Celebrity Edge's Blocks Are In The House!

Too many comments about the Eden dancers to reference them all, but I agree that they are interesting, eclectic, strange, resembling the walking dead, and not to my taste.  I just don't see the point.  So if that is all there is to Eden, I probably will not spend much time there in the evenings.

Does anyone know if that kind of performance goes on all day, or is it just in the night time hours, so the lights are better for the performances?

Anyway, thanks for posting the video.

One more thing, I have seen multiple comments about the restaurants that are mostly open to the area around the Martini Bar, and I can see where the noise level is pretty high, and not conducive to fine dining/relaxation.  I watched a couple of the longer videos that were posted on You Tube, etc., and the background noise of talking and music was really loud.  There seems to be no noise-dampening built in to that 3-level open area.  Reminds me of a casino with all the machines at full volume and people laughing and cheering, etc.  Really detracts from the whole experience for me.  But, as always, that is JMHO.  I certainly don't expect nor want everyone to agree.  To each his/her own.

I forgot who was concerned about the glass  being to low behind Mr. Edge, Incase some child or big kid were to get on him and slide off. I too shared the same concern and I am happy to see this photo of the increased glass height around him. However let’s hope people  don’t try to ride Mr. Edge.

Now, now - you know I will! LOL

bon voyage

B-Roll is footage shot in addition to the primary reason of a video shoot. It extra footage that may be used at some point in time when you are looking for shots to use for some new purpose. An example may be a newscrew is doing a standup on location for a specific story that will be aired. The crew also goes around and shoots “B Roll” to have for other purposes at a later date.  It can also be used during the actual story that is aired to add interest to the story the reporter is covering.

LOL, I guess all of my photos and videos can be considered 'B-Roll's'...

Maybe the outdoor seats at BLU and Fine Cut will become more in demand.  If BLU is loud when we dine there we may not book AQ Class again on EDGE class.  We started in AQ Class and BLU  when it was introduced to escape the hustle and bustle and din of the MDR.  Noise and music won't be very good for fine dining,...

Guess this is an issue to  monitor.  Easy fix would be installation of some glass walls .to keep sound out!

I have a quick question regarding SeaPass cards on EDGE.

There are already quite a few YouTube videos posted with lots of fun facts.  One poster commented that SeaPass cards are no longer used, and we can access our cabin with our phone.  As someone who will put her phone in the safe within minutes of boarding and doesn't plan to take it out of the safe until I'm ready to disembark, I'm not liking the idea of having to carry it with me on Shore Excursions or just wandering around the ship.

Is this info correct; can we opt to use a SeaPass card instead of a phone?

Thanks,

Susan

Hmmm. I hope the sound quality was better in person. Though there were interesting elements to this performance segment, it didn’t come together for me. I do think I would have liked it better if I had been there, though I find the lighting annoying. I feel for the performers, because this looks like a challenging performance space. It looks challenging for servers also. I shall look forward to checking it out for myself, in April.

the phone is an option, part of the tech advances. cards are used and needed, things on the app specifically state to bring your card (i.e. pool towels)

My one complaint about my recent Celebrity cruises has been the noise levels throughout the ship – not a design flaw on M- and S-class, just a decision [allegedly 'by Miami'] that music levels should be set so high that conversation is impossible, and that there should be 'background' music everywhere.  These early reports from Edge show that 'Miami' still wants it that way.  It feels like Celebrity is being positioned as the cruise line for Royal Caribbean folks when their kids have moved out.  That's their marketing choice – but it may be my walking papers...

Sadly we agree and hope that by August the ship has 'settled'. Must admit, having seen the prices for the cruises in 2020 I think we won't have a choice and just will not be able to afford a Celebrity cruise without sacrificing other holidays in the year....

We do the same with our phones and have been assured we can  check in for the cruise, open our cabin doors, adjust lights, windows and temps without our phones, as well as order drinks, or check accts on the tv,

The phone and apps cater to those who are into it.......but the rest of us will be able to function unplugged

chi-town city all the way! the burbs (clutches pearls)?!😱

It's not so bad out here (NW suburbs)...we have indoor plumbing & access to all the amenities you city-folk have!  :classic_unsure:  Quick commute to Wrigley Field...it's all good!

Blu should be fine as it isn’t in the area of Martini or Grand

OMG...

I failed to realize this was an actual performance...I thought maybe  it was a rehearsal.   I watched it again...Seriously,  they must be kidding..... Not enough drink or  Rx drugs could dull the pain,..Performers need MUCH better material!

Hope EDEN  will have quiet times for sitting, coversing and reading, as promised, because it is a lovely looking space!

Lol..! Your reaction is precisely what I was thinking. And the looks on some of the women performers faces made me wonder if they were questioning the material too!

There's also the point that a LOT of the entertainment budget is being devoted to this, which means it isn't going to other areas that I might like more!  Hopefully the dinner cover charge pays for it, but if not this concept needs quick rethinking.

Not my cup of tea.  Way to weird.  They tried this type of "entertainment" with Cirque on the M class ships and didn't go over at all.  Cirque disappeared quickly.  My take on this is when the feedback comes to Miami this may disappear also.  We sail on January 13th and I can think of many spots on the ship other than this one to enjoy myself.

I agree. When I first saw the video, I thought this was Cirque 2.0. I can’t understand why X is returning to a failed form of entertainment. Maybe others will love it, but we won’t be attending a performance like this.
