moopetguy Posted December 16, 2016 #76 Share Posted December 16, 2016 I will only smoke if I'm on fire. :D During my Grandeur sailing in January, the casino was smoke-free on both formal nights. I wonder if that was an experiment as well, and/or if they were trying to spare people's nicer clothes.
raprice18 Posted December 16, 2016 #77 Share Posted December 16, 2016 We were on the Nov 19th sailing of Enchantment and the casino was non-smoking during that cruise. There were signs at guest services. Went to the casino bar one night and the casino was packed; there was a 2 for 1 martini special at the casino bar. Roulette table was too crowded for me to play. mark290 Posted December 16, 2016 #78 Share Posted December 16, 2016 And just when were you on the Majesty last? It was about two years ago. When were you shown the casino's receipts last ?

hihilo Posted December 16, 2016 #80 Share Posted December 16, 2016 Having cruised on RC / Norwegian/ Celebrity + Cunard...... and finding that RC + Norwegian are smelly smoke pots due to the smoking in the casino ~~~~~ and the air is even worse on some of the RC ships , with the TALL central atrium design, the smoke drifts everywhere.... Its a simple choice. I only cruise on Celebrity and Cunard. We can make Powerful statements with our wallets/ spending .
J_Busworth Posted December 16, 2016 #81 Share Posted December 16, 2016 I never realised you could smoke in the casinos, on Voyager now and there is pretty permanent no smoking signs. The same was the case on Radiance and Rhapsody and the casinos were always very crowded so I can't see the issue with non-smoking casinos.

Thorben-Hendrik Posted December 16, 2016 #83 Share Posted December 16, 2016 Would love to have non-smoking Casino! They would get Much more of our $ if non-smoking! Currently on a ship (for 3rd week in a row) and smoke is horrible. Poor ventilation. Can't "air out" as smokers are in there even when casino not open. Numerous people in there in the evenings smoking and NOT playing AND NOT drinking. Just taking up chairs blocking the machines. They don't even pretend to gamble. They just squat on a stool facing away fom the machines and puff away! So what??? It is non of your business what they do - you do not own the ship or make the rules.... I just checked at the casino bar and it is the rule on cruises from Australia that the casinos are smoke free, :D

skiiergirl Posted December 16, 2016 #86 Share Posted December 16, 2016 (edited) So what???:rolleyes:It is non of your business what they do - you do not own the ship or make the rules.... Wrong! It is my business since I am a non-smoking gambler with lung issues! My time in the casino is limited due to the smoke and also my business when they are blocking access to machines I would like to play! I am currently on a ship and experiencing this every evening! You have the right to your opinion and I have the right to my opinion! Edited December 16, 2016 by skiiergirl
BamaGuy44 Posted December 16, 2016 #87 Share Posted December 16, 2016 OP was not being rude, just being honest. It's quite possible to be rude and honest at the same time. As for the "experiment", I doubt it's a real thing that's happening. I would think RC has all the data they would need to know how much non smoking casinos would affect profitability, with Celebrity having non-smoking casinos and certain RC sailings having them as well. I hope it happens on every ship everywhere personally, but that's just my preference. No doubt there are smokers who wouldn't use a non-smoking casino, and there also people like me who would use it much more. Would it balance out? Who knows but it's only a matter of time before there won't be any indoor smoking on cruise ships.

tampadee Posted December 16, 2016 #90 Share Posted December 16, 2016 In November of 1999, we had the pleasure of taking a totally non smoking Carnival Paradise for a Caribbean cruise. In a short period of time, they switched back to smoking, which Paradise is now.

troykahack Posted December 16, 2016 #92 Share Posted December 16, 2016 (edited) Found the insert from the cruise compass. Sent from my SM-T357T using Tapatalk How did I miss this... this was just after our Enchantment Cruise... the Casino crew, for the most part... didn't like the smoke as us as well... I made lots of waves (but played a lot to help prove a point)... Maybe what we are telling Royal and especially Club Royale is paying off. Unfortunately, I don't believe the 4 day cruises make a lot of money for the Casino.... very few players.... The last two cruises and the next two we are all in, playing, and stomping our feet, to end smoking in the Casino. skiiergirl Posted December 16, 2016 #98 Share Posted December 16, 2016 Mrs Ski,Do you think this is partially due to the loss of the cigar lounge? Hard to say since I haven't seen anyone with cigars.
