dizneefreak28 Posted December 28, 2016 #1 Share Posted December 28, 2016 Hey everyone! I know I scoured the boards for info and reviews before going on Oasis so I wanted to return the favor. I was starting to get a little worried by the negative reviews and comments. But I have to say, this was probably one of our best trips ever. I honestly don't know how we'll go on another ship after this! It was amazing. I'm going to break my review down into the areas that people usually seem most interested. Let me know if you have any questions! Getting on and off the ship We cruise every year. Sometimes a couple times a year. I've cruised out of Port Canaveral before but not in years. All our recent trips have been Fort Lauderdale. This was the easiest I've ever had! We got to the port at 9:30....we checked in and sitting in our seats by 9:45. By 10:45 we were boarding! We were so early Windjammer and the other spots to eat weren't even open! We chose to carry off our own luggage since we were heading to Universal and wanted a full day. We got in line around 6:45 to get off the ship and were on our way by 7:20ish. It wasn't horrible. The line seemed to constantly move but there were just a lot of people getting off. Crowds The only time I felt crowded was after the muster drill. Everyone was going the same place at the same time. Other than that, no one could have convinced me we were on a full ship. Never waited for elevators. We never had a problem finding a table at Windjammer with the exception of one lunch...we waited about 3 minutes! Oh no! :) An honestly I preferred the way they handled it, they escorted us to the next open table. I prefer that rather than wandering around for 15 minutes trying to find something. I had made reservations for the shows, but there always seemed to be plenty of empty seats if someone decided to go! Food We didn't do the main dining room so can't comment on that. Our cruise was a 5 night and four of those nights were at specialty restaurants. We did Giovanni's, Chops Grille, Izumi and Sabor. We found all of them to be excellent and enjoyed the food. Chops was a little slow on service...but better than anything we get back home!;) And the food was amazing! I think we liked Giovanni's best and the sangria at Sabor! We ate breakfast and lunch at Windjammer most time. We did try the roast beef at Park Cafe and it was as delicious as everyone says! Entertainment I don't know how anyone can complain they were bored! I felt like it was the perfect mix of everything to do and nothing at the same time. We saw most of the shows. LOVED Come fly with me and Frozen in Time. El Gaucho (our headliner) was hilarious and very talented. I saw a little bit of the water show form our balcony. Didn't watch much so can't comment on it. We did all the activities from mini golf and ziplining to the flowriders. The waits weren't terrible. 15-20 minutes tops. My boyfriend and I hit a couple dancing classes and trivia get togethers. Really enjoyed everything! I thought the ship was AMAZING! Our favorite area was Central Park. Sitting there in the evening with a glass of wine listening to the "crickets" chirp was pretty awesome. We all agreed it was the best cruise we've been on! Happy Cruising everyone!
heatheranderson13 Posted December 28, 2016 #2 Share Posted December 28, 2016 Thanks so much we go soon. Do u have the menus from the specialty restaurants. Did you go to labadee? Thoughts if you did? Sent from my iPad using Forums
dizneefreak28 Posted December 28, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted December 28, 2016 I don't have menus...but if you go to their website, what they had posted there was exactly what we were offered. I have to say the almond crusted scallops and Giovanni's were probably the best thing I've ever had :) We went to Labadee. It is BEAUTIFUL! The mountains and the water...the best of both worlds. My boyfriend and his son went kayaking and I hung out on the beach. We didn't reserve any excursions ahead of time and I wish we had. We ate at the buffet there....crowds were minimal food was decent!

We were talking with some ladies that were headed over to Unviersal. We also had a great time!!!

jcc1025 Posted December 29, 2016 #8 Share Posted December 29, 2016 Oasis and Allure are the best trips. We have been on 16 cruises and these two ships are by far our favorite. Given the size we still find them to seem less crowed than others. Sent from my iPad using Forums

We are sailing on the Oasis on January 15. Was there ever live music in the evenings in Central Park. The Allure does this. Wondering if the Oasis does so as well. Thanks! dizneefreak28 Posted December 29, 2016 Author #14 Share Posted December 29, 2016 We used FL tours to get to Port Canaveral and then to Universal. He was waiting for us when we got off and we were to Universal a little after 8:00! We heard live music several times in Central Park! The night we ate at Chops, there was a violinist and pianist playing. The music was amazing! One of those Wow moments for sure! My boyfriend's son is 15 and he did the teen club. LOVED it! They have a 1:00 a.m. curfew and he was always out until right about then. They had dances and different organized activities. He said it was his favorite part of the trip! I'm already trying to convince everyone to go again next December!

ATLgirl15 Posted December 29, 2016 #18 Share Posted December 29, 2016 We were on the same sailing and have to agree - Oasis is definitely our favorite class of ship and this trip was one of our favorites. We love central park too - ate dinner outside at Giovanni's with live music. Never felt crowded - didn't even have trouble getting chairs at the pool. But we missed the water show - when was it? It seemed like all the shows were canceled and no matter who I asked I never got an answer as to when there would actually be one.
goingtocarolina Posted December 29, 2016 #19 Share Posted December 29, 2016 Has anyone eaten at the 150 Central Park, and if so what type of cost is it? Also, are there other places on the Oasis that you can eat "free" for dinner, other than the My Time dining? We want to see Cats our first night cruising and could not get a My Time dining that works with the show time. There are 5 of us so we don't want to have to spend a fortune eating, when we paid so much to eat on the ship. Any advice would be great. We've only been on a smaller ship through RCI, so we're guessing the Oasis has more places to eat?
ATLgirl15 Posted December 29, 2016 #20 Share Posted December 29, 2016 You might be able to get a walk up reservation in the MDR. Some days they are busy and some not so you might luck out. There are a lot of free options for lunch but I can't think of anything else for dinner other than Windjammer. Some venues like Park Café and the hot dog stand I think might be open until about 6 but those are small plates. On a previous cruise we went to Vintages one night and just had a few tapas because we were trying to get to a show. Its not free but its not pricey either. There is always room service - I've only done it for breakfast so I can't speak to the menu or speed. Good news is Oasis DOES have tons of options - we never ate at the same place twice for lunch and they were all free venues.

It was excellent and the service was also wonderful. I had the Black Cod and i've tried to recreate it but I'm not that great a cook:rolleyes:. We had their signature martini cocktail and it was made table side and loved it. I think the cost was $45 pp. It was well worth it and we enjoyed the entire experience. goingtocarolina Posted December 29, 2016 #22 Share Posted December 29, 2016 Thank you for the information about the 150 Central Park restaurant reviews. Any other information that would be helpful for being on such a big ship with 5 of us? Our previous cruise was just two of us, much easier. Would love any advice for being on the Oasis!! We're so excited!!
denamo Posted December 30, 2016 #23 Share Posted December 30, 2016 Thanks to all who posted there is definitely music in Central Park in the evenings on the Oasis. Looking forward to it! Hoping the weather is cooperative. :)

You can also go to the hot dog place, Johnny Rocket's isn't free, but its inexepensive. The Park Cafe is a choice as well, but get lots of sugar and Caffeine to get through CATS! dizneefreak28 Posted January 4, 2017 Author #25 Share Posted January 4, 2017 I think the Aqua Show was the last day at sea? We were able to see it from our Balcony (Boardwalk room). The day we had reservations for was canceled as well! We are doing a 4-night on Independence next month. Excited to go but I know it will be different after Oasis!
