luvtheships Posted January 4, 2017 #27 Share Posted January 4, 2017 If you go in the afternoon it's "entry with donation (7 euros)" but you get access to several areas that you can't see for free (hours and details here). As for the Sagrada Família, it is not a cathedral, and it is nowhere near "fully completed". :) Read an article recently that it's completed or at least considered completed now. I'm sure there is still something to be done though. Lol Sent from my iPhone using Forums
trulytracy Posted January 4, 2017 #28 Share Posted January 4, 2017 We used Bags N Go in Barcelona last summer. It worked great. We were disembarking in Barcelona, doing sightseeing during the day, and then taking a train to Paris. We dropped our bags in the morning and they were waiting for us at the train station that afternoon. Highly recommend. We also toured the Sagrada Familia. It is not completed and won't be for several years, but it is complete enough to absolutely make it worth seeing. It is the most beautiful man-made structure I have ever seen. The inside is gorgeous. Don't miss it.
sjbdtz Posted January 5, 2017 #29 Share Posted January 5, 2017 OP, clearly you have a bit more research to do. As you've seen, there are two major churches in Barcelona. The Basilica Sagrada Familia is Gaudi's masterwork, still not completed over 100 years after his death. http://www.sagradafamilia.org/en/ https://www.google.ca/search?q=sagrada+familia&espv=2&biw=1733&bih=932&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi2tbiGlqvRAhXn34MKHd88AJkQ_AUIBigB&dpr=2 And then there's the gothic Catedral de Barcelona http://www.catedralbcn.org/index.php?lang=en which is in the Barrio Gotic, and also pretty: https://www.google.ca/search?q=catedral+de+barcelona&espv=2&biw=1733&bih=932&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjgj5i9lqvRAhVs4IMKHdENCq0Q_AUIBygC&dpr=2 Given only a few hours, unless you're an architect looking for Gothic examples, I'd opt for Sagrada Familia. 100x more interesting, and quintisentially Barcelona... due to the extent of Gaudi's works. It's also the the most visited church in Spain. If you're taking a taxi (there's a very modern Metro too, which you can research), I'd ask them to drive you down the Passeig de Gracia, which is where Gaudi has designed the Casa Batllo, https://www.google.ca/search?q=casa+batllo&espv=2&biw=1733&bih=932&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjRnc6Gl6vRAhXD7oMKHVHHB5YQ_AUIBigB and pretty much across the road, the apartment building Casa Mila. https://www.google.ca/search?q=casa+mila&espv=2&biw=1733&bih=932&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjY3fXPl6vRAhWX0YMKHa0zDv0Q_AUIBigB If you find you still have time, a visit to Parc Guell https://www.google.ca/search?q=casa+mila&espv=2&biw=1733&bih=932&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjY3fXPl6vRAhWX0YMKHa0zDv0Q_AUIBigB#tbm=isch&q=parc+guell is unlikely to disappoint. The taxi fare to the port might come to 40Euro, so realize it's an expense to go to the port first. You might find it easier to use a Left Luggage at one of the train stations downtown, or lockers near Plaza Catalunya (at the head of La Rambla) https://www.barcelona-tourist-guide.com/en/transport/baggage-storage-barcelona.html Enjoy. Barcelona is a really pretty city, it's too bad you can't visit it longer. Stephen .

I have done my research and I know which Cathedral I want to go to (I have been before while on a cruise that stopped at Barcelona with my Dad) It's the Gothic Quarter I am looking to go to as my mother is now attending and she has never been. We are more in to the history of buildings than architecture. But this time we are embarking from Barcelona and not sure what we can do with the luggage. hawkeyetlse Posted January 7, 2017 #33 Share Posted January 7, 2017 You'd lose quite a lot of time using the luggage lockers at Sants station. There is another service called "Locker Barcelona" that is located near Plaça Catalunya (within walking distance from the Cathedral and Gothic Quarter). If you take the AEROBÚS from the airport to Plaça Catalunya and use this luggage storage service, and after your sightseeing take the metro + T3 port bus to get to the ship, that's about as cheap as it gets, and not too inconvenient time- and distance-wise.
