Casino @Sea Drink Card vs choosing NCL' Unlimited Beverage Package

Hello all =)

I'll be sailing in 2 weeks on NCL via a casino'@Sea offer through Caesar'Properties.

I'm told I'll be receiving a C@S drink card.

What I'm wondering is this -NCL offered a choice of 1 option free -one of them being a unlimited drink package in which before we knew about the C@S drink card I had decided on.(BTW we did pay taxes/tips based on the full value if someone drank like a fish & we are not much of a drinker -but thought it might come in handy especially on the private island the Epic Sails too.

I have up to the day of the cruise to switch to one of the other options such as paid gratuities, a $200 credit toward shore excursions,

specialty dining (3x & taxes/tip are not included) and a few other options I haven't listed as choices.

Now that I know that we can get our drinks in the casino- does anyone have the rundown on how this works - can we literally just go in the casino to get a beverage if we have other plans, I'm the gambler-my friend is not - can she pop in and get a beverage when I'm gambling etc. IF anyone knows the rules and or experienced this.

I'm trying to weigh out which options would serve me better - I don't drink soda and not a big drinker-although in cruising tropical sounds good.

Any tips by experience here?

The Casinos at Sea drink card is only good for drinks in the casino while gambling. You can also get bottled water with it. You might be able to order a drink at the casino bar and take it out but some bartenders there won't do that unless you've been gambling.

The UBP does not include bottled water but does include drinks anywhere on the ship, up to $15 per drink with no limit.

Personally, I'd take the paid gratuities option since you're not really a drinker.

No reason to have UBP and pay that 18% gratuity.

Incidentally there is an NCL forum where more experienced CAS passengers might answer you.

I don't know where you heard that drinks in the casino are free. But I almost live in the casinos when I cruise and have always had to turn over my card and I am a heavy better. More to you if you can do that.

Those who have their cabin comped from NCL's Casinos at Sea program get a card for that cruise for free drinks in the casino while gambling.

Well I sailed 1/28 and getting ready to set sail again and this time around -even though I did enjoy the UBP ~I chose the paid gratuities for 4/2-- the casinos @ Sea drink card wasn't preferred over the UBP I found -but it did allow me to get water as well-and is for alcoholic beverages. I did notice that waitresses didn't come around very often though -so you best grab them when you can -if your in the casino.

I enjoyed getting beverages for sure---I'm not a big drinker - but think personally for me it may not be worth the extra tips on the UBP & paying my cruise gratuities as well. IF your planning to drink a couple hundred worth maybe but this time~ I believe I'm sticking w the tips.

I'm sailing 4/2 and again on 5/28 Thank you so much for your response it was helpful.

BTW I did get free water w my Casino@Sea -but LoL when I was told the first night when I was up late playing slots -I was told they ran out of water -I thought that was hilarious as we were @ sea. But anyhow - I got a bottles whenever I ordered a drink from there on out in the casino. Seeing that I have to drink lots of water due to medication-- it's hard to not freely have it.

All in all- I had a great time - and looking forward to many more.

I don't know the rules about the casino card. But if you are traveling with someone are they getting one too? Otherwise it might be worth sticking with the drink package. I'm pretty sure your friend won't be able to get drinks without their own drink card. And if you have the UBP you'll be able to have drinks with meals and and the island too.

Also, just ref the shore excursion credit; keep in mind it's only $50 per port where you do an NCL excursion. So if you go to GSC and don't do an excursion, u forfeit the $50 for that day. So it's not a $200 credit that could be used in one port.

When I had a comp/discount cabin through Casinos at Sea in 2015 and had a casino drink card, my husband also received one. So he also got free drinks while gambling.

Take a couple of empty water bottles on board and keep them filled from buffet or from your sink tap and you'll always have water -- free. That is what my husband did on our April and October ta's since he's also on lots of medication
