2 nights in Japanese Buddhist Monastery

We'll be taking a private tour late this spring, and one thing we've arranged is to spend 2 nights in a traditional Buddhist Monastery.

This won't be a place that has lots of foreigners/"civilians" staying, although of course we won't be the first, etc.

Does anyone have an idea of what attire we should be considering?

We want to be respectful, needless to say.

We know about "covering shoulders", etc., but we are trying to find out if there are more specifics for this type of stay.

We purposely selected a 2-night stay, so we'd have that full middie day of peacefulness, rather than arriving one evening and departing the next morning.

Yes, we'll be doing more official "homework" about this, including from the tour organizer, but they won't be staying there with us.

We'll have a private room and private bath (we did request that part, which might not have been the case otherwise).

It would be nice to hear from any others (not professional tour guides) who have had a stay somewhat like this, especially if it included a full day (morning to night).

Thanks.

Are you staying in Koyasan or a different rural or urban location? I may have some useful information depending on your answer.

Thank you so much.

These are the only two nights where we don't yet have the exact location (town/address/phone number if needed, etc.).

But it seems it will be in the Koyasan area.

(If you have some other area recommendation, we'd still appreciate hearing about it.)

If you could send info to our e-address shown below our signature, that would be greatly appreciated.

This is a very special part of our trip.

Thank you!
