stressedmomof3 Posted January 17, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 17, 2017 Can someone here please tell me if the smoke machines in the casino have been fixed? During our last cruise on the breeze, my husband knew not to go through the casino because he's an asthmatic, but could not participate in any of the trivia or enjoy the sushi bar/red frog because of all the smoke blowing throughout the whole corridor from the casino. I don't want to get this into a smoking/nonsmoking discussions as Carnival allows smoking in the casinos and I don't have any issues with that. I just want to know if it is still blowing into the corridors where they hold trivia, the taste bar area, the red frog area where you play dominoes, the sushi bar and where they set up most of the formal photo backdrops in that general area. Hoping it was just some mechanical glitch as we were told while we were on the ship, but if it is still happening, we might just try another ship to try and enjoy. Thanks ahead of time :)

beerman2 Posted January 17, 2017 #3 Share Posted January 17, 2017 As long as cruise ships allow smoking in the Casino, the smoke will continue to make its way to adjoining areas. It really doesn't matter which ship.
Rare IntrepidFromDC Posted January 17, 2017 #4 Share Posted January 17, 2017 Sadly, for those of us who avoid smoking in all other arenas because we know it kills, but for whom gambling is one of our favorite ship activities, we are stuck with breathing second hand smoke. There have been a number of studies, both quantitative and qualitative, that show there is not only a high correlation between smoking and gambling, but also a high correlation between addictive smoking and addictive gambling. Carnival can run simple reports like anyone else and the last thing they're going to do is alienate smokers. That said, Carnival does a HORRIBLE job of dispelling smoke. They should have a lot more than twelve or so smoke eaters in each casino because long term non-smoking cruisers who love to gamble will likely gain something if they come down with lung cancer and can show the only time they were heavily subjected to smoke was in Carnival casinos. Reojewel69 Posted January 17, 2017 #5 Share Posted January 17, 2017 We were on the Breeze this past November and the cigarette smoke was horrible in the Ocean Plaza. Our group as well couldn't enjoy some of the on board activities due to the smoke. We said something to guest services and also contacted them after our cruise to let them know how bad the smoke is. All we got was an apology but now word on if anything was fixed. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
cruisinpips Posted January 17, 2017 #6 Share Posted January 17, 2017 We were just on Breeze 1/01-08. Smoke was rampant in and all around the casino. Especially in the Plaza and in the main Atrium where the casino exits into it. This was especially true on the last sea day when the weather was terrible and being on outside decks was nearly impossible. All the smokers had ONE place to smoke and it was bad all around. We were trying to watch an event in the Atruim on deck 5 and the smoke smell was terrible. I agree they need more exhaust and smoke eaters. :D:D
cruisinqt Posted January 17, 2017 #7 Share Posted January 17, 2017 The Breeze is going into drydock in April so hopefully this issue will be addressed. There are devices that can help alleviate the thickness of the smoke. And creating better ventilation can help too. We are going on the Breeze in August so we will let you know if it's better.
