jdemps Posted January 23, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 23, 2017 Are you able to exchange for Pesos on the Carnival Miracle or do we need to get them before we go? Thanks.
springs741 Posted January 23, 2017 #2 Share Posted January 23, 2017 I haven't found anyplace in Mexico that didn't welcome USD. Take small bills because you will be told they don't have enough USD to give you change.
Micahs Grandad Posted January 23, 2017 #3 Share Posted January 23, 2017 Cruise lines will not give you a very favorable exchange rate. If you need foreign currency best to take it with you
pulledporky Posted January 23, 2017 #4 Share Posted January 23, 2017 I've never seen a currency exchange on a Carnival ship. So if you want to use pesos get em before you go or buy them when you get off the ship. A gazillion threads on that.

Havingfun2010 Posted January 23, 2017 #6 Share Posted January 23, 2017 Are you able to exchange for Pesos on the Carnival Miracle or do we need to get them before we go? Thanks. Most of the time, in Mexican ports, they gladly take US money and mostly have prices listed both. If buying something larger, or more money, I use a credit card. SadieN Posted January 23, 2017 #7 Share Posted January 23, 2017 You'll get a better exchange rate with the vendors than with any exchange on the ship. Just off the Ruby Princess 10 day. The Cabo exchange (need your passport) off of the Marina was offering almost par. Restaurants were exchanging anywhere from 18-1 to 20-1. Bring small bills. Only place we felt we needed to use pesos were in the mercados in PV and La Paz. Many times we pay in dollars and ask for pesos in return. Done this is Walmart, supermarkets and some shops when they didn't have the US$. PV Walmart was giving more than the official rate when we went there last week. riffatsea Posted January 23, 2017 #8 Share Posted January 23, 2017 It is quite easy to use USA money but it's always a better deal to pay in pesos. You can use cambios on shore(change booths) and they will have the exchange rate posted. You should also just check the rate before you go so that if you use USA $$s you will know what to expect. It is over 21 pesos to the dollar today so really waaay in our favor!
