Anyway, we obviously can't get physical cards in time to beat Monday's deadline on that sale, so if possible, I thought I could order physical cards and change the deposit payment to those.

Can't you hold the cruise for 48 hours, and then call and ask if they could extend the courtesy hold until you get the cards?

I thought about that, too. If we get a $500 card, it'll come UPS and there's a good chance it'll only take three days. But our PVP has already extended a 48-hour hold for us once before. We only needed an extra day or two, but he extended it to a 5-day hold. I hate to keep asking him to do that for us just because we're waiting on gift cards. We'll probably just put the deposits on a credit card and be done with it.

Thank you for not deleting posts.  It gets very confusing when non offensive posts are removed or merged into other threads.

I feel like I've read this in this thread, or maybe one of the other gift card threads. Is it possible to use a credit card for the deposit up front, but then change it to gift cards later?

We're looking at booking one of the Sailabration cruises in 2022 and possibly taking advantage of the "two days free" deal that ends Monday for something next year. When we first discussed this while on our cruise last week, I had planned on just buying a couple of AARP's e-cards for a quick fix to pay deposits, or at least partially. At the time, I didn't know AARP pulled them from their site because of the coronavirus mess. I still haven't figured out what it has to do with buying gift cards for future cruises, but I digress. Anyway, we obviously can't get physical cards in time to beat Monday's deadline on that sale, so if possible, I thought I could order physical cards and change the deposit payment to those. Or am I imagining I read that?

What is this "two days free" deal you mentioned?

Thanks

They've been running a sale (that ends tomorrow unfortunately) on select cruises that are discounted to the point that it's supposedly like getting two of the cruising days for free, plus 50% off deposits. There's a thread floating around on the first page or two. Evidently it's not available to everyone because not everyone is seeing it. At the very least, you have to be a past guest. The way I get to it is, first log in to your Carnival account, hover over the "Plan" tab at the top of the page and choose "Cruise Deals." If it's available to you, you should see "2 Free Days Early Saver VIFP Offer." If it's there, click on "Shop Now" to the right of it and that should show all of the cruises available under the deal.

Other people are seeing it when they search regular cruises, and if it's one that applies to this sale, it's appearing with the rest of the available rates (as "2 Free Days..."). But I prefer my method because that shows only the ones on sale.

Not showing up for us. Guess we miss out on that one. We already rescheduled our April 25 cruise to April 24 of next year and have a November 2020 scheduled. Always looking for a good deal so would have liked to see what was offered.

I have no idea what their criteria is as to who gets it. It seems quite random. I got an email about it on the 18th. I don't know if that's because we had just gotten back from our cruise a few days before or what.

We weren't going to bother with a cruise next year because we might have some other things going on, and were just going to wait until a 2022 Sailabration cruise. But we saw that sale and some are hard to pass up.

I've been unable to sign into my Allstaterewards account for about 10 days.  Any suggestions?

No problems for me either. The first thing to try is the ole standby...clear your browser's cookies & cache. You can try a different browser. If it works, then you know it's something to do with your usual browser.

Thanks for showing us some leniency. I didn't mean to bring the virus talk here. Actually, I was trying to get away from it, but it just kind of happened.

Personally, I think the Allstate thread is one of the most tame, if not the most tame, big threads on the Carnival forum. For just over 3 years, this thread has remained relatively free from the usual drama & bad attitudes that often plague the Carnival section. I think that's a pretty good accomplishment, considering the size of this thread and how long it's been going. Compared to the overall forum, it's pretty much just a small, core group of people who participate here and I think that helps to keep things calm. I know we stray off topic sometimes, but we mean no harm, and since a bulk of CC users don't even come to this thread, it doesn't seem to bother anyone. I understand rules are rules. 🙂 For what's it's worth, we always get back on topic.

Question: If we paid for a cruise with Allstate GCs and Carnival cancels (or I decide to cancel) will they refund my balance to the cards I already have or will Carnival send me new cards?  I kept my used cards.

Also, do these cards expire?

Reports I have read here indicate a new card.

Carnival gift cards don't expire.  Very occasionally they have sold promotional gift cards at a slight discount on their own website that have had an expiration date date, but in my memory this hasn't happened for several years.

I would say new card. That’s how they refunded me cheers and internet on a cruise I switched.

I don't know if this is allowed here so moderators please delete if not allowed... but since there's no way to private message people through the boards (or is there??? it says disabled for me)...

Organized Chaos - I have a bunch of gift cards that I purchased because I was planning to do Fly2Fun for my Mediterranean cruise this summer. Then I was able to use AA miles since reward travel is super cheap right now. I'd be happy to sell you a $500 card for the $450 I paid through All State. I have Cash app, Paypal (via bank account) or Venmo.  I could email or text you the card # and PIN once payment is received (the PIN hasn't even been scratched off yet). I know you have no reason to know that I'm trustworthy so it won't hurt my feelings if you don't want to. Just seemed like a win win for us both given your Monday deadline. Email me if interested or want to talk further. (amypintx@yahoo.com)

I have cancelled quite a few things and they always send new gift cards. They will not reload old ones. If I have cancelled a cruise paid with gift cards it comes back in a few days via FEDEX 2nd day air.

I agree with the others in that they will almost always send a new card. I have read a couple posts in the past where people said they got a refund loaded back onto the original card, but if I remember correctly, that had to do with something they were doing while onboard the ship. I haven't seen anyone say that for a long time, though. Just in case, I always keep my cards until the cruise is over, but that's just me.

I appreciate the offer considering you read that I was hoping for some quick cards for a deposit, but as you already know, it's very risky to buy cards from individual sellers. They actually had problems with it a couple years ago. People were trying to add cards to their S&S accounts that they bought online, but the cards were emptied. I mean no offense, but it's a risk I'm not willing to take. I hope you understand.

If you don't need them, take the gift cards onboard with you and use the casino trick to cash them out. Load the gift cards onto your S&S account. Go to a slot machine, insert your S&S card, and transfer the money over to your player's bank (you choose the "Charge Room" option). Spin the slot a couple times, hit the Cash Out button on the slot machine, then go to the casino cage to cash out your player's bank. If you have a large amount, you may not want to do this all at once.

I would suggest selling your cards on eBay or raise.com (I know, I am a hypocrite for suggesting this site). This will take away the individuality aspect to the transaction.

For anyone following along, we know that AARP has completely removed the Carnival cards from their rewards site during the cruise line shut-down. They literally said they pulled them because of the coronavirus issue. Allstate still has theirs available, but I find it interesting that they aren't emailing new codes during this time. They did the same thing a little while back when their cards were out of stock. My question is, why? I think most of us here have amassed a huge stockpile of points, but hypothetically, let's say we hadn't. Without new codes, we couldn't buy new cards. Or at the very least, we couldn't buy that many. So whether it's pulling the cards from the site completely or stopping new codes from being emailed out to users, what do they have against us building up a supply of cards during the shut-down? Many people build up a supply anyway, especially when they have a cruise coming, so why are they taking steps to slow (or downright stop) us from buying more cards? I'm having trouble understanding the logic there.
