CalvinAndHobbes Posted February 8, 2017 #1 Share Posted February 8, 2017 Hi, I am cruising with my husband and two young kids out of Manhattan terminal next month. We plan to drive up night before from DC. Any suggestion for where to stay overnight and still have easy drive in? Prefer Marriott (can use rewards) or less than $250. Would be nice to have free breakfast and free parking overnight. We plan to park at terminal during week. I heard about NJ hotel that has cruise special with shuttle service but I really don't want to have to wait for shuttle with two kids. Thanks in advance!! Warm Breezes Posted February 8, 2017 #3 Share Posted February 8, 2017 We like staying at Embassy Suites in Secaucus, NJ. Large suite rooms. Short and easy drive to the terminal in the morning with a hot breakfast buffet (made to order omelets) and a managers reception at night with drinks and snacks (1 free alcoholic drink and others discounted and free pop). Pens fan Posted February 8, 2017 #5 Share Posted February 8, 2017 One thing about your transportation concern: "I heard about NJ hotel that has cruise special with shuttle service but I really don't want to have to wait for shuttle with two kids. Thanks in advance!!" If you are talking about the Hilton Garden Inn in Ridgefield Park, NJ you don't have to wait for a shuttle. It's not actually a shuttle, but a car service that they arrange for you. When you check in, they ask when you wish to be picked up and taken to the cruise terminal. Our driver was sitting in front of the hotel 15 minutes early. So easy! At disembarkation, you call the service and arrange a spot to be picked up. We did have to go across the street, but it wasn't a big deal. The package cost us around $280 for the two of us, but saved $40 per night parking at the pier. I know you said you were looking for Marriott and that may be a deal breaker, but just wanted to clarify about the transportation method.

New Hampshire Steve Posted February 8, 2017 #7 Share Posted February 8, 2017 We take the Breakaway each year in late February and stay at the Holiday Inn Midtown in Manhattan. Room price for 4 people is $160.00 per night. It is about not far from the Manhattan Cruise Terminal. Decent hotel for the price. It is also close to Central Park. They also offer parking as well.
