happicruzer Posted April 16, 2017 #51 Share Posted April 16, 2017 The majotity of the suite/zenith luggage was in the staging area. No one was exiting for long periods of time. If in a hurry, I suggest you pay the staff to take your luggage or use luggage valet (which I hadn't heard being offered in PC). Luggage valet is expected to depart at 8:am and you must fly out of MCO. If flying Southwest, flight must be between noon and 6pm. Ken at the beach Posted April 16, 2017 #52 Share Posted April 16, 2017 When we departed the Jewel in San Juan in February, we used a porter and they had a special customs line that was super speedy. Does that trick work in Port Canaveral too? This was a while ago (March 2015) but it was at the new terminal and the porters did have their own line for customs. Not sure if that has changed recently.

Not sure if that has changed recently. There was a line for the porters at PC this morning. It did get backed up quickly, but it's better than the endless back-and-forth lines. mac_tlc Sent from my iPhone using Forums

RCI Cruisers 004 Posted May 5, 2017 #56 Share Posted May 5, 2017 We are back from our Oasis cruise, so I'll let you know how our disembarkation went . Please keep in mind we were in a GS, which really made a huge difference ! We met the Concierge at 745 in the Champagne Lounge and were escorted off by them. We were able to cut right thru the line and baggage area and led right to the custom agent . We were out of customs at 7:56. We had already reserved Cortrans for a pick up and left the port at 8:15 and made it to MCO by 9:00. There was no smoke or fog on the way to the airport like we thought we would encounter. The line at the Southwest ticket counter was unbelievable, but we used luggage valet , so we didn't need our luggage checked or boarding passes. I would recommend using the outside ticket counter, there was no one in line there ! I know a suite isn't for everyone, but I would guess it saved us over an hour or more for the entire process. Hope this helps !
peckfamily5 Posted May 5, 2017 #57 Share Posted May 5, 2017 I have tsa precheck and I think we have that fancy "even more speed" ticket from jet blue. So if we disembark early and I call an uber should I be good? Or should I have a preset company ready to. Pick us up; suggestions of So? And this cruise Is coming pack April 30th. Sent from my VS987 using Tapatalk We had a 10:30am flight for our return from our Oasis cruise that debarked on 4/23. We left our cabin at 7am and did self-debarkation. We were off the ship and on the road by 7:45am. We booked a private car to pick us up so we wouldn't have to worry about trying to get a cab or waiting for a cab to fill up before leaving the port. Got to the airport and encountered a HUGE line at check-in for Southwest. Getting through that line was longer than the ride to the airport. That being said we got checked in, through security (we have TSA Pre-check but regular lines weren't that bad) and were able to get some breakfast foods to carry on the plane and a potty break before boarding our flight at 10am. The car service we booked was Executive VIP. Got their info from the Florida departures board. Emailed Michael who confirmed our pick up, provided us with his cell number which we called as we were debarking. He met us right outside the door. Cash only payments which I'm glad I checked while we were on the ship! Cost was $125 for 4 of us, plus we tipped him.
GTO-Girl Posted May 5, 2017 #58 Share Posted May 5, 2017 We did self assist on both our Janaury and March cruises from the Oasis.....both times getting in line no later than 6:00am and leaving the ship around 6:45am. In January......we get to the terminal and they only had TWO custom agents there!!! The lady working at the terminal said she didn't understand why they wouldn't send more agents. Thankfully since we were near the front of the line we were able to get out quickly......BUT the line behind us was backing up fast!!! In March.....there were a total of four custom agents. Again we were near the front of the line and cleared quickly BUT for 6,000 passengers....:o:o. So I guess my point is if you do self assist and don't get up VERY early to get in line you could still be waiting awhile.
Rare island lady Posted May 6, 2017 #59 Share Posted May 6, 2017 I was wondering if it is cheaper to book a flight that leaves later, or booking private cars/suites to be sure to make that nail biter earlier flight?
Desert Cruizers Posted May 6, 2017 #60 Share Posted May 6, 2017 For our cruise next April, we might spend a couple days so we can visit DW after our cruises. Flying back to Calif sometimes it is easier to wait a day and since we are some 45 miles away from the airport unlike FLL, it may work out better to not try and go out on disembarking day. Still working on details with the daughter.

Definitely a good question! Though I assume they had a suite for reasons other than earlier disembarkation. :) I would never want to end my vacation with a nerve-wracking trip to the airport. I don't like rushing. :) Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Was just putting things in perspective. ;) It's never worth the aggravation caused by missing a flight, and the stress that comes from worrying about making it in time. May have to spend more for a later flight...but at least will make it. Would rather sit at the airport with a glass of wine comfortably waiting for my flight.

bouhunter Posted May 8, 2017 #64 Share Posted May 8, 2017 I agree with the posts about not cutting it too close - just not worth the stress of worrying about making a flight, or worse yet delays in customs or ship issues causing a missed flight. That said, we cruise in the winter and always stay over in Florida or San Juan for 3-4 more days out of the snow, so there is plenty of cushion built in............:p
