WeighAnchor Posted April 28, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 28, 2017 Greetings Fellow Cruisers, I was thinking about all the complimentary dining options and wondered what preferences everyone has for evening dining. DW and I prefer MTD because we like to eat a little later on port days than sea days. However, we will sometimes go to the Windjammer when we don't like the menu in the dining room. However, this poll is for your primary dining preference. If you would like to elaborate on your preferred complimentary dining preference, feel free to do so! Cheers, Michael
Yorkvillain Posted April 28, 2017 #2 Share Posted April 28, 2017 We used to like late seating the best. Now we like MTD the best.
jemrtt Posted April 28, 2017 #3 Share Posted April 28, 2017 We enjoy MTD - usually between 6:30p - 7:30.
hapster85 Posted April 28, 2017 #4 Share Posted April 28, 2017 If we're doing MDR, we prefer early seating. MTD we mostly did early as well, unless it was a late port day.
Ken at the beach Posted April 28, 2017 #5 Share Posted April 28, 2017 I voted for MTD only because this does not take a seat at early or late seating that someone may want. In reality though we have only been to the MDR once in our last 4 cruises as we do a mix between specialty and WJ.
Clarea Posted April 28, 2017 #6 Share Posted April 28, 2017 I didn't vote because we are now 50% MTD and 50% WIndjammer.
molly361 Posted April 28, 2017 #7 Share Posted April 28, 2017 I voted for Early Traditional but we also do a mix of that and the WJ. I liked MTD at first but then I went back to early traditional. I like having the same wait staff and table. When we did MTD it never seemed to work out that way.
DonnaK Posted April 28, 2017 #8 Share Posted April 28, 2017 We like early traditional. We eat in the MDR every night.
Rare kernow Posted April 28, 2017 #9 Share Posted April 28, 2017 I voted late traditional, we do that on every cruise as we like to keep the same tablemates and waitstaff and the time works for us. Apart from the odd Speciality restaurant we eat in the MDR every night. Julie
bigque Posted April 28, 2017 #10 Share Posted April 28, 2017 We do traditional early as we don't eat late dinners at home or on vacation.

Robo1098 Posted April 28, 2017 #12 Share Posted April 28, 2017 Late because don't want to cut ports short to come back for dinner That's a big part of the decision for me. That's why I do MTD.
goneclear Posted April 28, 2017 #13 Share Posted April 28, 2017 My Time Dining. Usually around 8 or 8.30. ( we enjoy our pre dinner cocktails;)) On a 7 night cruise we will also do at least two specialty restaurants and windjammer maybe twice. So a good mix of dining choices for us. dplusd Posted April 28, 2017 #14 Share Posted April 28, 2017 Have loved MTD since it was introduced. Since we generally eat at the same time we are always given the same wait staff. It's funny...we always eat early at home (6:00pm like clockwork) but always eat late (8:00pm) when we cruise. We found we just love the lack of crowds throughout the ship once the early diners are seated. It's one of my favorite times to enjoy the casino, diamond lounge, or see the early show. Guest maddycat Posted April 28, 2017 #15 Share Posted April 28, 2017 I voted for MTD. However, we usually do a couple of specialty restaurants and go to the Windjammer 2 or 3 nights on a 9-12 night cruise.
Ashland Posted April 28, 2017 #16 Share Posted April 28, 2017 I didn't vote because we are now 50% MTD and 50% WIndjammer. We're now 40% MTD....60% WJ and that is changing the more we sail in favor of the WJ now.
TimeToGetNauti Posted April 28, 2017 #17 Share Posted April 28, 2017 I prefer the traditional main dining room. I know there are specialty restaurants but I like the whole cruise feel of the main dining room. I would prefer a time between early and late, but I go for early cause late dining is just way to late. I have done my time dining, but it's just not the same. George C Posted April 28, 2017 #18 Share Posted April 28, 2017 Always have done late, still do late but most meals in specialty at 8 or 8:
Green Recruit Posted April 28, 2017 #19 Share Posted April 28, 2017 Not a fan of MTD. We take Traditional Late Seating so that we are not rushed on a port day. Teri
hapster85 Posted April 28, 2017 #20 Share Posted April 28, 2017 Have loved MTD since it was introduced. Since we generally eat at the same time we are always given the same wait staff. I like the concept of my time because of the idea that it gives you freedom, but still has the MDR feel to it. On the other hand, we seemed to always schedule it at the same time every night, so early seating makes for one less thing to think about. If the itinerary had several late port departures, I might rethink MDR for that sailing.
karena1 Posted April 28, 2017 #21 Share Posted April 28, 2017 We LOVE MTD, have done it on all ships or cruise lines since it came out. We rarely make reservations, that is the beauty of MTD, we go eat when we feel like it. Hardly ever do we wait more than 5 minutes. We have also found that we love eating alone. We talk to people all day on the ship (we know 1/2 the ship by the time we are off) so we enjoy eating alone, talking about the day and what we are doing the next day. Plus no more 3 HOUR DINNERS!!!! We can do MTD and be in/out in 1.5 hours or less. So I plan dinner around the shows or whatever else we want to do each night we will never to set dining again. The Flexibility of MTD just cannot be beat.
moopetguy Posted April 28, 2017 #22 Share Posted April 28, 2017 My family opts for traditional early dining in order to take advantage of the Adventure Ocean staff pickup of kids outside the MDR entrance. The wait staff serve DD's three courses within an hour so she can get to the evening session on time. RCI calls it "my family time dining".
