bermudagal56 Posted May 3, 2017 #1 Share Posted May 3, 2017 Is there a special order getting tendered off the Gem? do you have to sign up ahead of time? Last year on the breakaway we had to sign up and got a number in the order to get off.

esm54687 Posted May 3, 2017 #3 Share Posted May 3, 2017 Reserve a clamshell at the Excursion Desk and it comes with priority tender.
cb at sea Posted May 3, 2017 #4 Share Posted May 3, 2017 There is no real "rush"...just get in line when you're ready. Short ride...quick return to pick up more!
Eleteace Posted May 3, 2017 #5 Share Posted May 3, 2017 You usually have to sign up to get an early number. If you aren't in any rush you can just get up and go off whenever. I believe the numbers are just for the first hour or two. More about this here: http://cruisingisntjustforoldpeople.co.uk/2016/10/05/cruise-ship-tendering/ Hope that helps! earlbird Posted May 5, 2017 #6 Share Posted May 5, 2017 Reserve a clamshell at the Excursion Desk and it comes with priority tender. This is definitely the best way to go. For around $40 you get the clamshell and priority tender, so you can then pick your spot on the beaches. We have used this several times.
Rare BirdTravels Posted May 5, 2017 #7 Share Posted May 5, 2017 The island offers very little shade. And the sun can be brutal. Get a clamshell while on board. Use the ticket to get on the tender. They use the large tenders from the island, so it takes 20+ minutes to fill the tender (not good if you get sea sick). Once on the island, the clam shell attendant will help set up a shell for you. Select one with the mesh ventilation panel in the back. The solid canvas clamshells get very hot and you could end up being a cooked clam.
