Late dining question and waitlist success stories?

We are currently waitlisted for "Your Time Dining" and have been assigned to Late. Any experience with successfully getting the waitlisted option? How soon do you usually find out?

If we do end up with Late, does that mean we have to miss the evening shows? Or do they have two performances each night?

Thanks for your help!

We have been waitlisted for every cruise except two. Each time we are waitlisted, we go see the maitre d upon boarding. He has changed our dining time every time except once. That one time, he said that the dining room was full for the time we wanted and he would have to see how many people showed up for the first night before he could switch us. We went to the late dining the first night. The next morning when we came back from breakfast, there was a card on our bed from the maitre d saying that we had been switched to our requested dining time. So, 100% success rate for me!

And, there are two shows each evening: an early one for the late dinner guests and a late show for the early dinner guests.

We always do late fixed dining - no hurry getting ready for dinner after a busy day nor do we often (if ever) miss a sail-away.

Last year we had a great table for 8 that loved to go to the shows together after dinner. We had time for a leisurely cup of after dinner coffee and a stop in the restroom before arriving at the show in plenty of time to get a good seat.:)

For this upcoming cruise they only had YTD and late available so we chose YTD and waitlisted for early. We booked the cruise March 22nd and were cleared for early dining on March 30th. Our sailing date is Aug 25th.

While we normally eat dinner around 8ish at home, we have an 8 & 9 yr old so this allows us to watch the shows as a family. I've never done early before but I suspect we will either be running to the buffet before it closes, getting pizza, or ordering room service as we will get hungry later on in the night. We did not want YTD because my Dec. cruise had long lines when we wanted to eat (around 7:30/8ish), especially for elegant night (30 min. wait just to get a beeper and wait an additional 30 min- no thanks with little ones.)

As another poster mentioned, there are early and late shows, but some shows such as family comedy, occur pretty early. We wanted early so that we can do all the family entertainment (for instance, they may have a family comedy show, a magic show, and then the late theater show etc.). YTD would be cool because you could look at the days Fun Times and decide what shows are a must-see and coordinate your dining that way- just be aware that you could experience long lines.

Good luck on getting YTD!

We booked our cruise 2 weeks ago and requested Your time dining and received an email saying it had been granted. The email took about 5 days after booking our cruise
