montecarlo0407 Posted May 14, 2017 #51 Share Posted May 14, 2017 (edited) Not intended to sound snarky but maybe ask what company be it cruise line, store, whatever would want to provide goods or services and loose money doing it ? If they can't make money off our custom why would you think they want our business ? And before the argument of "Well I booked 2 High Priced Cruises so I deserve a break" keep in mind each transaction has to stand on it's on profitability matrix. If you want to cancel 2 other cruises, I suspect RCL will sell the cabins to someone else. Their ships are sailing full. For the record I called reservations for a different cruise and reservations personally told me about the Majesty cruise. They gave me the price of the cruise took my money for the cruise and when resolutions opened at 9 am on the 10th they even lowered my price when they single supplemented the price. So Royal sold me the cruise and supervisors even re priced it lower. So on the 10th everyone at Royal was in agreement with the price of the cruise. It wasn't until the 11th they decided to change the price. Yes when I cancel my many many more expensive cruises someone else will buy them. But I will have my money to use elsewhere. When enough people spend their money elsewhere that is when companies actually lose money. The cruise lines are presently in an up for sales and in Florida we have many choices. But just like everything else what goes up must come down. Edited May 14, 2017 by montecarlo0407 Adding words
Midwestgal Posted May 14, 2017 #52 Share Posted May 14, 2017 Try using a different name for the first passenger than the one that's in the original booking. The problem is the price is wrong and it won't take the deposit because of it. We tried booking it under the 2nd persons name and nothing. We talked to a PVP at Royal and her screen showed a different price then my screen at the same time.
Biker19 Posted May 14, 2017 #53 Share Posted May 14, 2017 Yes when I cancel my many many more expensive cruises someone else will buy them. I assume RCI doesn't have "retention specialists" like internet/cable companies, but do they even attempt to coax folks to not cancel?
Cuizer2 Posted May 14, 2017 #54 Share Posted May 14, 2017 You think? Anyone care to guess which sailing? There are others like this. I would go with the guarantee.
Biker19 Posted May 14, 2017 #55 Share Posted May 14, 2017 I would go with the guarantee. I would too, but on the following page of the booking process the price jumps to over $2500.
BlueHerons Posted May 14, 2017 #56 Share Posted May 14, 2017 I once booked The Plaza Hotel in NYC for Thanksgiving week for $39.90 per night when it should have been $399.00 per night. I knew it was a glitch but went ahead and printed out my confirmed reservation. About two months before I went back online to check my reservation. Yep, it was changed to $399.00 per night. I didn't even try and fight it because I knew the original pricing was wrong and it would have been dishonest of me to hold them to it. Sometimes when you KNOW the pricing is off, it isn't honest to insist they honor the price. However, if they do, good for you. To the OP, I don't know how off your pricing was. Just my experience. Biker19 Posted May 14, 2017 #58 Share Posted May 14, 2017 Bait and switch is illegal. Perhaps, if the that screen shot was the booked price, but it's not - it's an example of issues with RCI's web site.

Clarea Posted May 14, 2017 #60 Share Posted May 14, 2017 Bait and switch is illegal. It's not bait and switch, it's just another innocent "mistake". Over and over and over ....
Midwestgal Posted May 14, 2017 #61 Share Posted May 14, 2017 My TA sent a screenshot to the people at RC and got nowhere with the first two departments and now is speaking with someone higher up. We both know they probably won't honor the price but it was worth a shot. Royal being perfectly aware of this issue from so many people yet they still fail to fix the problem does fall under Bait and Switch and I would think there would be some legal action against them. This is not like a qlitch , it's been going on now for a while.....fix the problem.

Happens with lot of businesses. If an ad said $3000 for new car instead of the real price of $30000 I wouldn't expect it for lower price. That's why companies have the small print to protect them from pricing errors.

Bob, I know what the problem is... some of their IT staff have been reassigned to help answer phones due to the high volume of calls for "mistaken" charges for water bottles missing from cabins.
