Snookum Posted May 16, 2017 #1 Share Posted May 16, 2017 My son is on the Grandeur from Baltimore now and he called on Saturday, his first evening, and said they are no longer allowing casino open to gamble on first night. He said they stated they are following suit with other cruise lines. Does anyone know anything about this and why? TIA
Ocean Dancer Posted May 16, 2017 #2 Share Posted May 16, 2017 There was a thread on here......casino can't open until the ship goes past the bridge/tunnel in Norfolk. Something about not being in International waters.
zdad59 Posted May 16, 2017 #3 Share Posted May 16, 2017 Still need a Casino license when you are in US waters. Takes until late the first night to sail down the Chesapeake.
chengkp75 Posted May 16, 2017 #4 Share Posted May 16, 2017 Virginia has recently changed their law regarding casinos on foreign flag cruise ships in Virginia waters. It is no longer allowed, and this has fueled some speculation about the future of homeporting in Baltimore.
cruisejess Posted May 16, 2017 #5 Share Posted May 16, 2017 The casino on the Carnival Pride opens about an hour after sailing from Baltimore. Just sailed last month and was pleasantly surprised.
Lady Hudson Posted May 16, 2017 #6 Share Posted May 16, 2017 The casino on the Carnival Pride opens about an hour after sailing from Baltimore. Just sailed last month and was pleasantly surprised. How about the last night? How late did they stay open? Thanks.

cb at sea Posted May 16, 2017 #8 Share Posted May 16, 2017 We frequently see ship's sailing out to sea from Va. Beach, after passing over the Chesapeake Bay/bridge tunnel...Once you've passed that, you should be close to a casino opening....
sellwingri Posted May 16, 2017 #9 Share Posted May 16, 2017 Casino is completely closed the first day and closes around 5 pm on the last day. These are changes that just took place this year after Maryland passed a law prohibiting gambling within the Chesapeake Bay. On the 2 sea days, slots open at 9am and tables open at noon. The day you get to Bermuda, I believe the slots are open until you reach port and then the slots and tables open that night at 9pm. The 2nd day in Bermuda, slots and tables open when you leave port. This is for a 5 day cruise on Grandeur.
