piatro Posted May 17, 2017 #1 Share Posted May 17, 2017 Just had notification from celebrity that we have now lost a port stop on our december cruise on connie and will now have an extra sea day. This will according to celebrity enhance the guest experience, cant see how losing a port for a sea day will do that. Should we now receive a refund of port tax?

wrk2cruise Posted May 17, 2017 #3 Share Posted May 17, 2017 Will most likely be refunded onboard in the form of refundable OBC.
Rare cruisestitch Posted May 17, 2017 #4 Share Posted May 17, 2017 Maybe, maybe not. The last time we missed a port (Ushuaia) there was no refund. We received an "explanation" that we had been undercharged for one port's tax so the loss of Ushuaia would go towards that. I didn't buy it, but there wasn't anything to be done about it. jelayne Posted May 17, 2017 #5 Share Posted May 17, 2017 From our experience port charges at the time you book are based on the cruise lines best estimate. In some cases booking are made 2+ years in advance. The port charges in the interim do change but if they go up your booked fare doesn't change unless you take a action to cause a change (eg upgrade & pay more) then the port charges will be adjusted up or down to the rate at the time of the change. When you are on the cruise if the actual port fees/taxes are higher per person than what you paid you are not charged. If they are lower you will recieve refundable OBC. We have gotten a refund in past on some cruises ranging from $6- 30.
