How to plan a party

Our family will be cruising to Alaska and we would like to plan a birthday party for our son in law. Any suggestions are welcome. Can we make arrangements now or do we wait til we are aboard? Thanks in advance.

What do you want to do exactly? Have a family dinner together that night? Order the Birthday Celebration cabin decoration package? Order a specialty cake or just get the "normal" size one in the MDR? Do you want some kind of production done by the Cruise Director? Tell us what you are thinking of doing and then we might be able to suggest how one goes about it.
