snowy01 Posted May 20, 2017 #1 Share Posted May 20, 2017 We are booked on a TA with 3 nights at the Doubletree Metropolitan. That gives us two full days plus the days of arrival at Brooklyn and leaving from JFK airport - hotel and both transfers are arranged through Cunard. There is little information about the timing on those two part-days, other than we are being picked up from the hotel about 5 hours before the 18.30 flight. Does anyone have experience? How much would be left of those two days to do any sightseeing, especially that last morning?
Cassandra14 Posted May 20, 2017 #2 Share Posted May 20, 2017 This is the exact same trip as I did last year. We arrived at the hotel late morning and left our luggage and went out then checked in later in the day. Then we had 2 full days and on the last day had a full morning out. It worked well. Enjoy. snowy01 Posted May 20, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted May 20, 2017 Thank you! That sounds like there is plenty of time on day one. And we can probably ask the hotel to look after our suitcases on the last morning, while still going out for a few more hours ( maybe not head too far). Do you remember the transfer arrangements as well organized?
Cassandra14 Posted May 20, 2017 #4 Share Posted May 20, 2017 Yes...it was ok. Very busy at the hotel with all the comings and goings but no major problems. The hotel is in a very handy position to walk to many places of interest. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Do you remember the transfer arrangements as well organized? If you're going out just after you got to your hotel but could not check in, PLEASE stow ALL your luggage and valuables in the hotel's safe keeping facility. Our luggage was ok, but we left our Back Packs with the tour operator till they could check us into our rooms. Somewhere along the line, our foreign currency, held in a file in our back packs, got stolen. We assumed that our Back Packs would be safe with the tour operator. They are so busy, that anyone could have opened our Back Packs. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!! Enjoy your stay. Skillies

snowy01 Posted June 6, 2017 Author #7 Share Posted June 6, 2017 Just a quick follow up: We have returned and found that there was indeed plenty of time on both arrival and leaving days. It was an advantage that we had booked hotel and transfer through Cunard as well. On arrival at the hotel, all suitcases were deposited in a large room at the top of the building and we were able to go out immediately (taking valuables with us). Mid afternoon we returned to put our luggage into our room, and then had lots more time for sightseeing. The Doubletree Metropolitan is in a good location - lots can be reached on foot, and there is a subway station right next to the hotel. On our last day, we were told to leave the packed suitcases in our room from where they would be collected and put on the coach later. That gave us sufficient time to head off sightseeing again for another 5 hours or so. The coach to the airport could have left a little earlier as traffic was extremely slow, causing some stress.....
