CruisinLow Posted July 22, 2017 #2 Share Posted July 22, 2017 Has anyone done this tour? It is not through the ship but a private tour. Thanks I am looking at a private tour also that goes to this location. Will be stopping in Guatemala on a Panama Canal cruise in January, 2018. Wish we could get a response from someone who may have been there.
zippydodah Posted November 5, 2017 #3 Share Posted November 5, 2017 I live in Guatemala. Where does this excursion take you? I may be able to help you a little if it's to Santa Terresita as I've been there on my own (not on a cruise excursion).
CruisinLow Posted November 6, 2017 #4 Share Posted November 6, 2017 I live in Guatemala. Where does this excursion take you? I may be able to help you a little if it's to Santa Terresita as I've been there on my own (not on a cruise excursion). Thank you for the response. We have a Viator tour that will pick us up from the port and take us to Santa Teresita. We have also been able to contact them at the resort and have already set up massage and facial appointments for that day. Did you enjoy the place and did you ever get any of the massages or body/facial treatments? The 3 of us are really looking forward to this day trip as long as they get us back to the ship in time. Is it a nice resort? Any tips or pointers you may have for us? Appreciate you writing.
zippydodah Posted November 6, 2017 #5 Share Posted November 6, 2017 I go to Santa Teresita about 3 or 4 times a year. I love the thermal circuit. You'll be guided through pools with different temps designed to get your circulation going. Don't be put off by the surrounding area. The spa is lovely and you only really see the rest of the neighborhood coming in or out. One note I'll make just as a head's up. I've found the massages to be hit or miss with them. It's never a horrible experience. It just can be a little odd sometimes. Like they're not quite the same as massages I've gotten in First World countries. Everything here is an adventure. It's why I love living in Guatemala! You'll see 3 volcanos on your way to the spa. 2 of which are active. As you're coming north from the port, the one in the middle is Agua. It's dormant and probably the most impressive as you're driving along. The ones on either side are active. The one on the right is Pacaya and constantly smokes a little. Fuego, on the left, is more active and is constantly throwing out ash. If it's a clear day, you should have a good show. Enjoy your cruise and your visit to Guatemala. My friends and I had been in Guatemala last year when we sailed from Buenos Aries to Los Angeles. So we were very fortunate to have been on an extensive tour and saw the magnificent volcanoes in this area. I really do appreciate your additional comments also about the Spa as well as the mention about the massages. Thank you so much and perhaps someday we will end up on the same cruise and can discuss our experiences further.

CruisinLow Posted November 7, 2017 #8 Share Posted November 7, 2017 hi Baja mama can you please tell me which Viator tour it is for the hot springs? I think my wife will be most interested when we arrive at Puerto Quetzal after Christmas Hi, This is Cruisin'Low not Baja Mama but I do have some information for you as my friends and I are the ones taking the tour. The Viator tour can be found at this link https://www.viator.com/tours/Puerto-Quetzal/Puerto-Quetzal-Shore-Excursion-Thermal-Circuit-and-Hot-Springs-with-Lunch/d5176-3022P44 And if she wants to book some massages or body treatments in advance, Here is the link for Santa Teresita https://www.santateresita.com.gt/home.html They do have an on-line help desk to help you book treatments in advance also and you do nt have to pay until the day you are there. Hope this helps and have a glorious cruise.

Just not sure if we are calling it too close. :( Linda, You might want to ask an on-line question about these times on their website. https://www.santateresita.com.gt/home.html They did actually call me back so we could discuss the logistics of the times. Fortunately our ship arrives at 7:00 AM and does not depart until 6:00 PM. It is about an hour away from the port so they should be able to tell you if your times are sufficient to get to the spa, have services and return in time to catch your ship. Hope this helps you. CruisinLow Posted February 5, 2018 #12 Share Posted February 5, 2018 Just got back from my Panama Canal cruise. We had the MOST FANTASTIC experience at the spa. WOW, it was great. Viator tours was right at the port as we got off the ship and sent 5 of us off in a van to the Spa for our full day there. The driver was a driver only and did not give us any information along the drive. But we did not pay for a narrated tour so that was fine. When we arrived, we had a fully escorted tour for the 3 of us. We paid first and then off to get on our bathing suits for the Thermal Circuit. it was incredible. Also their facilities are amazing; very clean and not what you would expect after seeing the neighborhood as you drive to the facility. During the Thermal Circuit, we were served a fruit smoothie that was delicious. Then the 3 of us went our separate ways for our massages. When we were all done, we were escorted to a patio and our pre-ordered lunch was served. The food was very good. Then off to get our facials and salt scrubs. What great experiences. And after all that, we showered and changed back into our clothes. It was only a short time until another large van came to get us and take us back to the port in plenty of time prior to the ship leaving. This was a marvelous experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone. My only negative or perhaps just a word of caution is that they are not really equipped for handicapped. In one of the pools, there was no handrails and there are many up and down steps.
nesheiml Posted October 31, 2018 #13 Share Posted October 31, 2018 Was the thermal circuit included with the viator tour? So you only paid for the additional massage and facial?
