Tweedy Posted May 29, 2017 #1 Share Posted May 29, 2017 I'm sailing September 1-8 and will be stopping in Icy Strait. I was thinking of doing one of the wilderness excursions where they go in search of bears. I know that it is never a guarantee that you'll see one but what are the odds at this time of year? Anyone have an idea?
Budget Queen Posted May 30, 2017 #2 Share Posted May 30, 2017 "Icy Strait" as you have listed is the waterway. Hoonah is the location. I would not recommend a ship tour, since that only goes back and forth to a fixed location. An independent will be on the move, that is necessary in my opinion. It depends on an active salmon run for the most "chance". Your time could be shoulder. "Possible" is what you can expect.
