BunnyLebowski Posted June 1, 2017 #1 Share Posted June 1, 2017 Is there any downside to using OBC for the butler's tip? It's much easier for us to go to the customer service desk and adjust individual tips vs. envelopes and carrying extra cash. Anyone know how this works as it pertains specifically to the butler? Thanks!

Thanks! I used OBC last year to tip the butler extra. I was told by MC concierge that wtv the amount I allocated, the butler would receive it in his next paycheck. The slip you get from GS has a specific line for the butler and your room steward, but as far as your wait staff, it is not specific to your particular waiter, instead it is for the entire dining staff. Wine-O Posted June 1, 2017 #3 Share Posted June 1, 2017 If you've already done the automatic tipping and want to leave extra for the butler, you can add extra for him using your OBC by going to guest relations and filling out the form. This works especially if you have non-refundable OBC.
jelayne Posted June 1, 2017 #4 Share Posted June 1, 2017 I tried to tip our Butler & Cabin Steward on the Infinity using OBC and was told at Guest Services that they no longer allow that. I ended up telling DH to have fun in the Casino with the OBC. He did and turned $200 OBC into $230:D.

Gonzo70 Posted June 1, 2017 #6 Share Posted June 1, 2017 So now you can't tip using OBC??? Groan... This seems to be hit-or-miss. I encountered this issue on Summit late last year (being informed I could not use OBC for extra gratuities). However others sailing more recently on Summit reported being permitted to do this. That's strange, because that's the ship I was on last August and did use my OBC for extra tips. I asked Maja, the MC concierge if it could be done and she said yes and explained how it worked. She actually brought the form to me in Luminae one evening.
jelayne Posted June 2, 2017 #8 Share Posted June 2, 2017 I guess this is like a lot of things on X policies varying by ship and who you ask and what phase of the moon it is. Consistently inconsistent .
margsipie Posted June 2, 2017 #9 Share Posted June 2, 2017 We were able to use non refundable OBC for this last week on the Solstice. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
