Liberty of the Seas New Year's Eve

Recommended Posts

We are going on the NYE cruise this year and I am looking for info on what to expect on board for the big night. It is embarkation day, so should we plan on bringing formal wear with us in our carry ons? Are there paid events in addition to the balloon drop and bar parties? Will the promenade be so crowded that we should maybe try for looking over from one of the balconies on the ends? So many questions!!! I have done searches for NYE, but not really found much from the Freedom Class ships. TIA

Pretty much yes to all of your questions.

We were on the Adventure this past NYE- there was a big party on the Royal Promenade- and I would totally expect the same. In two of the bars, there were areas that you could pay to have a private table, champagne, and some stuff- the cost was reasonable over the bottle of champagne, and we were happy to have extra sit down space. It was REALLY crowded, but a blast.

Other than the more separate tables, we didn't notice any other paid events.

It was also the first night, and they made it formal night. Not too long before the sailing we were emailed with that information.

There was also a pool party for NYE at the same time. But most people started in the Promenade and then went up there.

We have done a couple NYE cruises. Both onboard the Enchantment of the Seas during Bahamas Cruises.

The first was the evening we had visited CoCo Cay. Dinner was formal and there were party favors and hats at every table for everyone to use later. The Ship Partied Everywhere. They had to Rock bands in the Centrum, Latin Band in Boleros, Pianist playing in the Schooner Bar and the Ships Orchestra playing Big Band Music in the Lounge behind the Schooner Bar. About 11:30pm all the waitstaff on the ship started to appear with trays of Champagne.. Big Balloon Drop at mid night in the Centrum. BBQ Buffet on the Pool deck about 12:15am... You might be wondering what was going on in the Viking Crown... They Shut It Down in preparation for the First Party of the next year that began at 12:30am...

We did it again the next year. It too was great, It happened the evening we left Nassua. We left port about 11:30pm and anchored off the island. Watched about 5 different Fireworks displays from sea... The best being from Atlantis.

And YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DRIVE HOME...

I don't suppose anyone has a menu from last year's NYE MDR? Just curious about the special meal. I had been thinking of doing Chops or Giovanni's, but if they do something special in the MDR we will stick to that.

Love hearing everyone's experience!

For both the NYE's we've sailed on, it was a special dinner. But we never take pictures of the menus.
