Reflection - Inside Staterooms

Hi Everyone

We are relative cruise novices compared to some here - 5 cruises under the belt so far, 6th coming up. We have sailed twice on Solistice, once on NCL Epic all times in Balcony staterooms, then P& O Oceana and Thomson Celebration in Oceanview - all occasions were Med cruises.

We LOVED Celebrity but the difference in costs between inside and out is quite something, however on this occasion we have chosen an inside stateroom on Reflection again in the Med. Our previous cruises there were 3 of us so the additional space was a deciding factor. Now DS has 'flown the nest' space is not quite so important to us.

The question is - other than the obvious (no balcony) are there any other major differences with inside rooms ? Lighting ? facilities ? Bathroom ? overall seating area ? We figure we will spend a lot of the time out on decks coming into / leaving ports so will still be able to see all that's going on. So will our experience be just a wonderful ?

Almost all - if not every post on the boards seems to come from people staying in balconies / suite, but is there anyone out there with experience of life 'inside' ?

Thanks all

Fig

I've done veranda staterooms twice on the Silhouette, and inside rooms on the Silhouette and recently on the Reflection (just got off last week). At first, you will definitely feel the difference. The room feels darker and not as airy as a veranda stateroom.

To answer your question - No, the rest of the room is exactly the same. The bathrooms are the same and sized exactly the same as a normal veranda. We also did the Med cruise on the Reflection last week and we were hardly ever in our cabin. Our friends had a inside stateroom on Deck 3, and they got quite used to it in 2-3 days, although they also said that they would prefer a balcony room the next time round.

I think the Reflection is a beautiful ship, with so much going on outside, that you shouldn't really spend too much time in your cabin anyway. The cruise director Maarten is hilarious, the staff is eager to delight each cruiser, so I'm sure you will have a wonderful experience.

I've posted a couple of pictures of our Accessible inside stateroom on the Reflection in my review below, feel free to check it out.

Cheers!

Nick

If there are not enough free perks to justify getting an oceanview or balcony thrown in, I definitely don't hesitate to book an inside cabin. As the previous post mentioned, you will 'feel' the difference but if you book one that is close to an exit / natural light, you will probably be fine. I would book one on deck 3 near the entrance to the passport bar on the starboard side. That way, the natural light is just steps away. You can even have your morning coffee right there near your cabin but feel as though you have at least a window. Plus, these are pretty quiet rooms as they are under the carpeted casino area (those on the starboard side). The location is very convenient so you won't feel too deprived. At least that is how we feel about those rooms.

I stayed inside on REFLECTION a few years ago and it was on deck 3 near the Passport Bar. I would highly recommend it.

Nice size room, great location and it is very quiet too.

We sometimes tune the cabin tv to the bowcam channel when we want to see what the weather is like outside, or whether we have arrived at a port. At night, we leave it on without sound. It will be dark all night, but gradually become light as the sun comes up.

Inside cabins are dark - so it's easy to sleep later than you might want. You might want to have a watch with a light on it by the bedside and a small flashlight as well.

On our last cruise (last week on the Reflection) we had an inside stateroom. The bedside phone panel can be turned up, and it glows, so at night you can easily see what time it is.

Without this, you will definitely need a glow clock, else you risk sleeping in way into the day.

A wise move! Save the money and splurge on specialty restaurants and shore excursions. Been on Reflection many times in many categories. Inside cabins are some of the largest at sea. Never spend as much time on the balcony as I thought I would. Love the insides on the higher decks!! 😎

  • 9 months later...

Have had balconies twice on Azamara and once on Oceania Riveria because they were good deals but have had inside cabins mostly with Celebrity, especially on S class ships as they are the same size inside as balconies.

We love the insides, have had 20 + on celebrity. We don't need balconies, out and about too much around the ship or on tours.

Would never consider anything other than insides, especially having to pay over the top for ov and above as we don't drink enough to warrant the high price.

Horses for courses.

It's obvious the insides does not have the natural light at day or at night, When we have several continues days at sea I love my veranda. At night like to see the moon in the horizon, at morning a breakfast hearing the sea. Last Eclipse cruise one day I see a Whale jumping !! also we have full moon last sea days :)
