JusGetinStarted Posted July 3, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 3, 2017 Hey All, I am leaving on my cruise in 6 days. This is only my 2nd cruise so i just wanted to get some clarification on the gratuities. Last cruise I pre-paid the gratuities and then gave extra at the end. That is what I thought I was going to do this cruise as well, but when I printed out our cruise docs it said at the top that no prepaid gratuities or travel protection were included. I immediately got upset because I thought all of this was set. We booked this cruise on the ship on our last cruise last year and she told me she was booking it the same way I had it in for the cruise we were currently on. She didn't ask me any questions regarding gratuities or travel protection so I assumed she did what she said. But anyway if the cruise docs are correct she did not add it in so how do they do it when you don't pre pay? Will they charge my card everyday the $13 and something? Or Is it at the end of the cruise that I need to make sure I don't spend the gratuities amount? This puts a damper on my spirits because I thought all of my money was spending money then i would add additional to my cabin steward and waiters at the end. Now I probably won't be able to give extra.

deliver42 Posted July 3, 2017 #5 Share Posted July 3, 2017 If you're not past final payment date, you can ask your TA to add them to the booking. Shouldn't be any problem.

You can have it added after final booking too. We did on our last cruise. We called around 3 weeks before to have the grats added. But 6 days not sure if thats sufficient time

Grandma Dazzles Posted July 3, 2017 #10 Share Posted July 3, 2017 Your gratuities at least can be billed to your account daily. I would be more concerned about the insurance that you thought you had but now it's not there.
cb at sea Posted July 4, 2017 #11 Share Posted July 4, 2017 If it's not included or pre-paid, they simply charge your for your tips daily. If you feel someone deserves more than what you've already paid, you are free to tip additionally.
