sailboater1 Posted February 9, 2006 #151 Share Posted February 9, 2006 You are so lucky to get Bayshore for $81. I tried several times today on Priceline for May 8-10, went to $80 adding a new area each time for a 4* and was rejected each time.
sailboater1 Posted February 9, 2006 #152 Share Posted February 9, 2006 Do you know the Victoria Regent in Victoria? What would be a good price for it. Is it really nice?
cruise freak Posted February 9, 2006 #153 Share Posted February 9, 2006
Do you know the Victoria Regent in Victoria? What would be a good price for it. Is it really nice?
Sailboater1, I looked at www.biddingfortravel.com at their list of hotels that have come up in Victoria and the Victoria Regent isn't listed. All hotels do not participate in priceline so you should go to their site and look at the list before bidding. Good luck
jchris50 Posted February 9, 2006 #154 Share Posted February 9, 2006 I guess we are all impatient. I stated a few pages back that I got the Bayshore on June 18 for $77 but for the life of me I cant get any 4* bid accepted on June 10! How will we know when other hotels start giving up inventory? krewzin Posted February 9, 2006 #155 Share Posted February 9, 2006 Pamwinn, CassCruise...thanks for helping out a Priceline newbie. Now if I can only figure out the exact days I'm gonna need before and after our cruise! For these prices, the $5 insurance is definitely worth it since we're booking so far out...
krewzin, when your bid is accepted you have the option of purchasing insurance for a few dollars which will cover cancellation for a number of events like sickness - we figured we got the room so cheap it only added a few extra dollars (I think it was $5per night)!

Is it really nice?
I've never booked there myself, but I've been there for a few parties and a wedding reception. The suites are wonderful inside, but I can't tell you anything about the services, etc. I've known a few local couples that have picked it for thier wedding night honeymoon suites, and have been thrilled. They have such a wide range of accomodations (some are over $700/nite) that it would be hard to give you a "good price", but I'd say if you could get it for anything under $100, that would be an incredible deal. It's probably one of the better locations too, right on the water. Karen
noatak Posted February 11, 2006 #157 Share Posted February 11, 2006 Does anyone have any recommendations for a backup hotel in downtown Vancouver? (I've been trying Priceline for a 4* for June 25 but no luck so far. ) I thought I had my backup narrowed down to couple 3*hotels on Granville street until I read the reviews from others (i.e. porn shops and tattoo parlors nearby, noise in the streets until 3 am) Is it really that bad?? I also looked into some of the hotels located on Robson st., Is this considered to be a better area? I would like a nice quiet hotel in the downtown area close enough to walk to some nice restaurants and maybe a little shopping for my dw the next morning. Is it possible to find a hotel like that in the $100-125(US) price range?? Any recommendations from the locals greatly appreciated. Thanks
grouchy Posted February 11, 2006 #158 Share Posted February 11, 2006 and there are tons of shops and places to eat. Great place to windowshop and people watch. On one corner there are 2 Starbucks! If you can put up with the area-the hotels on Granville Street are not bad. I have stayed there and walked around with a friend in the evening and no problems. grannynanny Posted February 11, 2006 #160 Share Posted February 11, 2006 Ok, I've decided it's not wise to bid for Langley, since they are showing 4* hotels. What about Delta, I can't find any hotels listed in that area. I guess my question is, is if OK to bid using Delta for a 4* hotel? Another question, our ship does not leave from Canada Place, it's docked at Ballentine (sp?) dock...does anyone know how far that is from Canada place, and are there hotels near that dock? Thanks, Nancy
grannynanny Posted February 16, 2006 #161 Share Posted February 16, 2006 Can someone PLEASE let me know if it's ok to still use Delta as an additional option when bidding for 4* in Vancouver. I'm terrified that I might get something I don't want since all this talk of Langley having a 4*. Thanks, Nancy

You will not want to stay near Ballantyne dock - stick with DT Vancouver and near Canada Place. If there are any hotels down there (I don't think there are any), it isn't that nice of an area.... grouchy Posted February 16, 2006 #163 Share Posted February 16, 2006 Ballentyne Pier and it is a short cab ride form Canada Place. Delta, like Langley is WAY out in the suburbs-why do you want to stay out there? It will take you at least an hour to get to Vancouver and besides malls-there is not much to do. grannynanny Posted February 16, 2006 #164 Share Posted February 16, 2006 I don't want to stay in Langley or Delta. Some one posted that you can use those areas when bidding on Priceline since they don't have 4* hotels. Another poster later stated that Langley now has 4* hotesl...I'm sooo confused, and terrified that if I use Delta when bidding, I might get stuck with a hotel in that area. DanaJW Posted February 16, 2006 #165 Share Posted February 16, 2006 Our cruise ends in Vancouver in June and I can see from reading this board that we definitely want to stay downtown. We will only be in Vancouver one night, then must get back to the airport to fly home. Do I assume that we take a taxi from the cruise ship to the hotel and then another taxi the next morning to the airport? Thank you!

krewzin Posted February 16, 2006 #167 Share Posted February 16, 2006 I dunno where Ballentine Pier is located, but for those of you looking to see the location of certain Vancouver hotels, check this map out: http://www.greatervancouverhotels.com/vancouver_hotels_and_attractions-map.htm Hope it helps... DanaJW Posted February 17, 2006 #168 Share Posted February 17, 2006 Hi, I'm reading all of the great information on this thread and am a little confused about the Vancouver area to check off on the Priceline site. I understand we want to stay in Downtown Vancouver, but there is no "downtown" listed under "select area." Do I just check off "Vancouver"? Thanks!
CassCruise Posted February 17, 2006 #169 Share Posted February 17, 2006 DanaJW after you select the 'name your own price option' it will bring up another screen with the select the areas where you want and a list of places with area details beside each so if you see beside the Vancouver option it has area details - click on this and it will show you a map with the area you have selected showing you it is indeed the downtown area - hope that makes sense Jane
DanaJW Posted February 17, 2006 #170 Share Posted February 17, 2006 Thank you, CassCruise. I am very "literal," so when I didn't see "downtown" listed, I just wanted to double check! I also see on Priceline that the rooms accommodate two adults. We will have two adults and two teens (four total). I have read on this board that people have called the hotel directly to make sure there is room for additional people. Is this risky or should I feel safe booking a room that is for two knowing that I really need to accommodate four? Thanks again for your help! CassCruise Posted February 17, 2006 #171 Share Posted February 17, 2006 I myself have not used this before so am sure experienced users will help - we also have 4 (but the girls are 6&8) we emailed the Westin and advised them our preference of 2 x double beds explaining there was 4 of us - but we are going with the attititude worst case scenario DH gets the sofa and the girls and I the bed - the hotel sent a pleasant email back saying they have noted our request will certainly try and accommodate but no guarantees! trgthatsme Posted February 21, 2006 #172 Share Posted February 21, 2006 Because of all of the wonderful and insightful information regarding Priceline, I was able to book the Westin for July 16 for $60.00. I received my confirmation on my first bid. I called the hotel this morning to request a room with two double beds. They told me that I was already booked in a room with two doubles, but this could not be confirmed until we check in. She did say that the hotel will accommodate the four of us. I'm not entirely sure what she meant by that, but I'm not going to lose sleep over it. It's only for one night and I got a great deal - good enough for me. Again, my thanks to everyone who shared information.
grannynanny Posted February 27, 2006 #173 Share Posted February 27, 2006 I want to thank everyone for all lthe great information here, however, I'm still not able to get 2 rooms for 3 nights 4* 6/15-6/18. I bid $90 yesterday and was turned down. Has anyone bid and gotten 4* for these dates recently, and if so how much did you bid? Someone told me that the closer you get to the date, more rooms are released to Priceline by the hotels...anyone know if this is true? My final payment is in April, and I really would love to know we have the rooms secured. Thanks, Nancy PS Pamwinn, I know you were trying for these dates, any luck yet? spirit317 Posted February 27, 2006 #174 Share Posted February 27, 2006 I'm so excited. We just got the Sutton Place for $104.00/night. We used our points from our credit card. This was much easier than Priceline.
