familycruzer Posted July 6, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 6, 2017 My son and fiance are taking an Anthem cruise but do not have a credit card. Will a debit/visa card work? Can he put cash down at guest services and if so how much per person does he need to place for a 7 night cruise? Biker19 Posted July 6, 2017 #2 Share Posted July 6, 2017 He can use a cash account with nothing down. Up to $500 can be charged before having to pay it down. Settle the account with cash on last night.

No money down needed, Royal allows each account to charge up to $500 before they ask the account to be paid down.
familycruzer Posted July 6, 2017 Author #5 Share Posted July 6, 2017 I called RC prior to asking here and was told he needed to deposit $500 on day 1 per guest in the room. I thought that was a bit much ... Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Sent from my iPad using Forums I wouldn't use a debit card as a hold they (RCI) put's on these types of cards can limit the use and take a certain period of time to release the hold. Not worth taking the chance. They can set up their account as a cash account....you don't have to put any amount down but when you reach $500.00 they will call you to come to guest services...at that time they can pay the account down with cash. We have done many cruises using a cash account and never had to out any money down. The information given by previous posters is correct. Just to clarify though, you can charge up to $500 for 7 day and longer cruises while for cruises 6 days or less you can only charge up to $300 before being asked to pay down your account. KuffMUp Posted July 7, 2017 #8 Share Posted July 7, 2017 I went on Majesty with a pre-paid Visa. I thought I lost the one with my name (found it later) and they wouldn't take the one with a name of "Valued Customer". I asked them to establish a cash account. Let me on board. I went to the ATM, withdrew $300, paid at Customer Service. Never had a problem. They just asked me how much I wanted to pay ahead of time. Didn't make me pay $500.
