CruisersTimeThree, very interested in your opinion of Manuela (if you care to share!!). Thanks.

To be honest, I didn't have much interaction with her because the couple of issues we had, she would leave a message about being aware, but didn't really follow up.

We don't tend to go to Michael's Club much because we really enjoy relaxing on the PH balcony, but the few times I did stop in there she was pleasant enough.

When we sailed with Maja last year, she would stop into the dining room here and there at dinnertime to say hello. I thought that was so nice of her and gave me the feeling that she cared about her guests.

I didn't know if that was required of her, but now I suspect it wasn't as Manuela never did this.

The only place I saw Manuela was in Michaels Club, no where else on the ship.

On the "meet the officers" get-together in MC, Maja had taken the Capt around to each group and introduced them, Manuela did not.

We all have our favorites and that's one of the reasons we tend to continue to sail the Summit.

Sorry we missed Maja by one week, but was happy she was still onboard and we got to see her before she left.

Sailed with Maja (and Capt Kate) on the Summit on April 22 this year. A group of 8-10 of us had cocktails in MC before dinner almost every evening. (Does anyone remember the server's name?) What a great experience. Maja was everywhere, stopping in to say hello in specialty restaurants, Luminae, etc. I don't know when the woman slept. Capt. Kate was also wonderful. Celebrity seems to be pushing the fact that she's a woman, and not pushing her 21 years of experience. We sail again on the Summit 04/14/18. Hope that Maja and Captain Kate are there!

We have had the pleasure of sailing this year and last year with Capt Alex. He is a very nice gentleman and has made our last two cruises very enjoyable.

What impressed us very much is that he remembered our slightly disabled son by name and welcomed him warmly this year when they again did a bridge tour.

I don't see why people make such a fuss over Capt Kate. I'm sure she's very nice and does her job well, but I think it's insulting to the very capable and some more experienced captains who master all the ships in Celebrity's fleet to read how people gush about her.

CruisersTimesThree -

Thanks so much for your opinions/comments. I've sailed with Maja 3 or 4 times - she is always in Luminae every night stopping at every table. I've only experienced two other MC Concierges and to my recollection neither appeared at Luminae nightly. So I'm guessing it's not part of the "job description" but Maja goes that extra mile.

Maja also accompanies all guests off the ship and directly to baggage claim and then to Customs when it's time to disembark (I've experienced this with her not only in Bayonne but also in Fort Lauderdale), which neither of the other 2 concierges did.

I honestly think that Maja goes that "extra mile" and I'm willing to bet you she'll be promoted to Suite Manager very soon!

I'll be in the PH in September so I'll meet Manuela at that time.

Captain Kate was onboard when I sailed in May and Maja did bring her table to table in Michael's Club. Captain Alex was onboard when I sailed in July and Maja did not bring him table to table in Michael's Club.

So, I was thinking that it's just his preference that he goes to each table alone - and not with Maja.

I like both Captain Kate and Captain Alex equally the same. I think they are both well qualified to "run the ship". I will say that I think each time i see Captain Alex his personality evolves and shines through just a bit more. So maybe he's really now comfortable shooting the breeze with the passengers!

Manuela escorted off the ship, took us to the luggage area, but as far as I saw, she did not wait to assist with the customs line.

From the butler rumor mill, I was told that Maja is expected to come back and have the suite manager position and Manuela mentioned it also and said she hoped that if that happened, that she would be able to stay on the Summit. She explained that she is a "floater MC concierge" and she would love to have a ship to call her own.

Enjoy your Sept cruise! If you are staying in "47" you may thank my husband for fixing the sound system in the suite.

Chip, our butler, remembered from last year how much my husband enjoyed his music playing throughout the suite and balcony and was so upset to tell us that it was not working and he called everyone he thought could fix it in to work on it to no avail.

Needless to say, my husband was not a happy camper to hear this news, but he got down in the mass of wires in the cabinet, fiddled around a bit and got it working! Also, the access point in the entry hall blew out and we had no internet for a couple of hours. IT techs in and out and they finally figured it out and got us online again.

I'm staying in "47". Did your husband get the music to play out on the balcony in "48"? In all my years of sailing in the PH on Summit (both in 47 and 48) , nobody can get the music to play on the balcony (It played on the balcony on the Constellation with no problem - Chip was our butler on that Constellation sailing. He is an excellent butler - reinforced by the fact that he remembered how much your husband liked his music!)

Maja did tell me that if she got the Suite Manager position she would board on September 3 (even though the position isn't effective until September 10). She would want a week to "get to know" the new responsibilities. That would make me so happy because I'd get to see her again.

I love the Summit!

We stayed in 47 last year and this year and yes, my husband did have the music playing on the balcony on both cruises. In fact, I yelled at him several times to lower it (he claims it did not infringe on the neighbors) because not everyone loves his taste in music! Chip left at the end of our cruise and wont return till Nov 3rd. I don't know who will be taking over for him.

So, now my mission in September is to get the music playing in 48. I know Judas is my butler in 48. Thanks for all your comments.

Hi everyone.. the internet connection frequently transcends into the triangle on the way to Bermuda. As soon as I have a stable connection, I will try to post an update.

Glad to see you got the update and corrections to the thread and you will post again. Enjoy the Summit.:)

I don't understand why you deem a compliment to one person to be an insult to others. Why can't it just be what it is--a compliment to one person?

Suite Manager position:

I was curious about the Suite Manager position and contacted Captains Club ref an upcoming cruise. Basically was told that since I was only an S-1, that I would not benefit from the position as it was for Celebrity Suites and above. Said they didn't know which ships would have the position. Captain's Club does not always disseminate the most accurate info. Does anyone remember what the position description said? I am unable to locate the previous Board containing the applicable posts.

Thanks

George

Thanks. Nothing in there (surprise, surprise) about only being available for CS and above. Be interesting to see if other ships have the position. We sail the Solstice in Nov and will let you know. Any other reports?

George

My feeling is the Suite Manager will be available to all suites. However I think some of the benefits (for example curbside luggage pickup for immediate delivery to your suite) will only be available to the upper level suites. We'll just have to wait to see how the whole thing plays out. And things may vary by different ships and different embarkation ports.

Just curious to know what the Suite Manager position entails. We will be on Equinix in September and curious to know what this change means

Tried to write him via his twitter though it didn't work....anyone know if Richard Spacey will be on Equinox Dec 16th-23rd. Whether he is the cruise director or not is a big factor whether we go so would love to know if anyone else has an idea.

Thanks in advance!

Captain Tasos came off of Solstice at the end of our Alaskan cruise 8/4/17. He said he would be in Santorini for the next month. Most entertaining captain we have ever had; he should have been headlining the theater too! Steve the CD was his personal whipping boy for a lot of his jokes. The rest of the entertainment was fairly mediocre, unfortunately.

Amazing how the master can affect the enjoyment of a cruise.

Do you still have your "In the Spotlight" or Celebrity Today for other changes since my last summary?

Is Sue Denning a good CD? I will be on the Silhouette in October. Any idea who the Captain will be then?
