Caps_Shield Posted July 25, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 25, 2017 So we are trying to pick between the Dream, which we just went on last year, or the Vista. This would be for July 2018. Dream is about $1,600 cheaper, so that's a big win for it. But It have never been on the Vista and heard it's amazing. In the Dream's favor though it went through dry dock and has a lot of cool features now. So is the Vista worth the extra money?

Having sailed both ships (Dream seven days in 2012 and Vista 13 days in 2016), I'd pick Dream again in a heartbeat. In my opinion, Vista is definitely NOT worth the extra money. lovecarnivalcruises Posted July 25, 2017 #4 Share Posted July 25, 2017 I have been on both and the Vista is my favorite ship. But worth an extra $1600, nope.

wanderlust0713 Posted July 25, 2017 #6 Share Posted July 25, 2017 Is that comparing apples to apples in terms of staterooms? If you really want to experience vista maybe try an interior or ocean view to save money
evandbob Posted July 25, 2017 #7 Share Posted July 25, 2017 Try MSC's Seaside, brand new ship and design, 8 nights mid ship balcony for about $2,000 for 2 people. You can even match your VIFP to one of their levels and get perks. E.G., my Carnival Diamond thranslated to MSC's Black Card (highest level). I've sailed the Vista and thought it was a great ship, and I have the Dream and Horizon booked, but I couldn't pass up this fare for a brand new 1st time experience. If you really want to experience vista maybe try an interior or ocean view to save money Both are balcony staterooms. We have 4 in a stateroom for both. Everything is the same except with the Vista you get: Sports Bar The little peddle car things Red Frog pub 1 extra day Seems too little for that kind of cash. BTHodgeman Posted July 25, 2017 #9 Share Posted July 25, 2017 Both are balcony staterooms. We have 4 in a stateroom for both. Everything is the same except with the Vista you get: Sports Bar The little peddle car things Red Frog pub 1 extra day Seems too little for that kind of cash. I've never been on the Dream, but have been on Vista. Here's my "rating" of the extra amenities you mentioned: The sports bar is fine, but it is fairly small, and the casino's Poker Pro table is in the sports bar rather than the casino. SkyRide is fun, but more or less a "one and done" type activity. The best of the amenities you mentioned above is Red Frog Pub, and especially the outdoor seating right outside Red Frog. One extra day - depends on whether it's worth it to you. Does it add a great port? An extra sea day? etc. Vista does also have a few more fee-added dining options, the best of which by far is JiJi Asian Kitchen. Vista also has the Havana bar and pool deck. The Havana bar is open all day to everyone. The pool deck/lounge area is open to everyone after 7PM. Overall, Vista is a very nice ship, but for a $1600 price difference and the specific amenities you mentioned above, I'd probably pick the Dream. Rare Liljo22 Posted July 25, 2017 #11 Share Posted July 25, 2017 It adds La Romana, I think that is how it's spelled. The Vista board has threads that don't speak highly. They are two completely different itineraries so not sure how you singled out La Romana. The Dream is on the Western Caribbean route while the Vista is running its Southern route through Aruba, Grand Turk, La Romana, and Curacao. $1600 is a good chunk of change. For that I would think it would come down to whether those ports are more attractive than the Western run. If you really want to go on the Vista, the 6 day Western runs a lot closer to the Dream pricing but you will lose a day of course.
SkyMaster Posted July 25, 2017 #12 Share Posted July 25, 2017 Dream in a heartbeat! Vista is an excellent ship, but even with the extra day, not worth the extra money they're asking. As noted, you could take another cruise for that type of cash. "SKY"

easyboy Posted July 26, 2017 #14 Share Posted July 26, 2017 If $1,600 is within your budget and the Vista is in your bucket list, take the Vista. Otherwise, the additional $1,600 can still give you much more in cruising.
Vonchillis Posted July 26, 2017 #15 Share Posted July 26, 2017 We are booked on our second Vista trip next March because we loved the Havana area. Booked a Havana interior so we could take advantage of the pool and hot tubs all day long. But we missed the Dreams hot tubs on the side of the ship on deck 5. For the price I would think it would be the Dream most definitely. Sent from my iPad using Forums

SweetCruiser39 Posted July 26, 2017 #18 Share Posted July 26, 2017 I've been on both. If you can get a Havana cabin, then the Vista is definitely the way to go. If no Havana cabin, then the Dream.
