Jenhem31 Posted August 3, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 3, 2017 Cucina is open! We always go there embarkation day if there's one on that ship. It's always empty. Lunch is free Sent from my iPhone using Forums
OldSaltyCruiser Posted August 3, 2017 #3 Share Posted August 3, 2017 Both Cucina del Capiano and Ji Ji Asian have seated dining and should be open for lunch on the Vista on embarkation day for lunch. Both are located on deck 11 and both are free at lunchtime.
2xsin12mths Posted August 3, 2017 #4 Share Posted August 3, 2017 I agree with Cucina and JiJi. People don't realize they are free for lunch and not crowded. DO NOT go to the buffet along with 3,000 other people. By the 3rd day Cucina and JiJi were full at lunch time.
Cafedumonde Posted August 3, 2017 Author #5 Share Posted August 3, 2017 Thanks for all the comments! This is our first Carnival cruise. We have always done the buffet that first day, and every time we regret it. But on our last cruise (Disney), the experience really set a negative vibe for the entire cruise. People were fighting over tables. It was like people had never seen food before, and their buffet food isn't even very good.
MNKEITH Posted August 3, 2017 #6 Share Posted August 3, 2017 The BBQ on 5 was open and not crowded when we boarded Vista in Feb.
poohbear Posted August 3, 2017 #7 Share Posted August 3, 2017 We ate at the BBQ when we boarded in June, no wait. Blue Iguana and Guys is also open along with JiJi's and Cucina. Enjoy it is a beautiful ship!
thesmiths Posted January 18, 2018 #8 Share Posted January 18, 2018 Is there outside seating for Jiji and or Cucina?
Schoifmom Posted January 18, 2018 #9 Share Posted January 18, 2018 Anyone know what is open for lunch when u get on the ship? Any sit down? It depends on what you mean by "sit down." If you mean, full service (someone takes your order and brings you your food), no, there is not. The options mentioned above (JiJi's, Cucina, BBQ) are not buffet, but they are not full service, either.
timc.jb Posted January 18, 2018 #10 Share Posted January 18, 2018 We plan on going to Cucina since most of the other days we will be doing the buffet for lunch during sea days.

But in our minds...Cuciana is most is definitely close to full service on embarkation day???!! We ate there for lunch on embarkation day in November. We were seated at our own table...had a server who brought bread, water, took our order, etc. Granted you had to choose what you wanted on a slip. It is a limited lunch menu....but still very good, nice atmosphere and very relaxing!!

Close, but not quite, full service. I just wanted to level-set expectations.

I just wanted to level-set expectations. Not on Vista.... Led us to a table....gave us water and bread and explained the process with the slip... Came back picked up the slip...and then it was like any other seated service restaurant... Strange how the Sunshine differed!! Are you talking about the Pasta Bar during the cruise...or your experience on Embarkation day??
