newport dave Posted August 6, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 6, 2017 Need to get from Brooklyn Cruise Terminal to hotel in Times Sq, then from hotel to Newark airport the next day. Had quotes for a car service for both trips, but neither include the cost of tolls. Does anyone know what the toll charges are please?? Many thanks David
Rare mking8288 Posted August 6, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 6, 2017 BCT to Times Sq. hotel is $8.50 cash toll. *** Times Sq. to EWR via midtown's Lincoln Tunnel, to NJ Tpke (Exit 16E) to Newark Airport (Exit 14) is $2.15 cash toll. Car service is entitled (per regulations) to charge for return toll from NJ to NY, above toll of $2.15 plus a one-way Tunnel toll (east-bound, NJ to NY only) of $15 cash toll ... for the airport dropoff. *** It is possible that the driver, at his/her discretion, will take a non-toll crossing (Brooklyn Bridge, unlikely to use Manhattan Bridge) on an early weekend morning ... if traffic is light & flowing, to save the toll charges. Otherwise, the Hugh Carey Tunnel is a cash-less EZ-Pass toll crossing (no stopping) and generally a preferred & faster way to get into Manhattan, especially for weekday commuters. 138east Posted August 6, 2017 #4 Share Posted August 6, 2017 It looks like you're from Newport, South Wales, UK. An 18-20% tip would be expected on the base rate of your trip. So the final cost would be base rate plus tolls plus tip.
