nelsonbrandyl Posted August 7, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 7, 2017 My Husband and I are wanting to go on a cruise just the 2 of us. No children or anything. We have a 9 year old and a 2 year old. We do not get a lot of time by ourselves and never have been on any kind of vacation by ourselves. I have been on Carnival 3 (with and without kids) times and Royal 1 time (with kids). He had been on Royal only 1 time and we had the kids. My question is what's the best for us to go on with no kids in your opinion ? We live in Texas but what boat and trip would your recommendation also (I have done Jamaica, caymans, Cozumel and Belize, Roatan, and Cozumel several times) and we plan on doing Bahamas on Carnival from Galveston in summer 2019 with the kids and Go thanks. taglovestocruise Posted August 7, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 7, 2017 Not much choice out of Galveston. I would choose Liberty of the Seas. Rcl draws a slightly less party crowd and a fewer children and seems to have more shows and entertainment. . Although if your cruising in summer both ships will have a ton of kids. Scroll up top to reviews and look at the bottom line of all the ships. happy end of summer cruising

leaveitallbehind Posted August 7, 2017 #5 Share Posted August 7, 2017 Most cruise lines will have families with children, but cruise lines such as Celebrity and (in particular) HAL cater to more of an adult demographic. But the best way to minimize the amount of children on board is to avoid cruising in the summer and Holidays when the children are out of school. Also avoid short itineraries such as 3-4 nights as they tend to be more of a party cruise. Longer itineraries, such as at least 7 night or longer, also tend to have lest children Itinerary choice in terms of location is not much of a factor as families cruise on all itineraries. Departure ports other than Galveston are not more or less expensive but the Florida ports will offer more selection in terms of cruise lines, ships, and itineraries. But travel expenses to them if are closest to Galveston will factor into the cost.

Basically all of them would be good without children IMO. :)

navybankerteacher Posted August 7, 2017 #9 Share Posted August 7, 2017 Try a grown up cruise to better ports - Cekebrity or HAL to eastern Caribbean from Miami or Fort Lauderdale - definitely worth the air fare.
Krisval Posted August 7, 2017 #10 Share Posted August 7, 2017 Viking ocean cruises generally do not have children onboard. The cruises cater to people who want an upscale cruise that is port intensive, no casino, no art auctions, no long halls of shops. Food is outstanding, wine and beer included at lunch and dinner, no charge for room service, and on and on. They are primarily in Europe, but have added some Caribbean cruises, Alaska, South America. Sent from my iPhone using Forums I really enjoyed Royal Princess out of Fort Lauderdale this year, which is a sister ship to the Regal Princess. Next April Regal Princess has (2) 7 day itineraries to the Caribbean, I'd like to try the Eastern Caribbean one myself because I've never been to St Maarten. I really enjoyed the retreat pool area, adult only. Also, if price is an issue, do an inside cabin or spend a little more on a Balcony cabin. The ship was beautiful, loved the Bellini bar. The weather in April was nice this year for our 10 day cruise. It was my kids spring break, but I took my mom and sister for my mom's retirement, so we didn't have any kids. People will warn you about kids and spring break, and "never again", but I didn't notice any issues with any kids on our cruise. We normally cruise with our kids on Princess, we've also done Disney with the kids. We've done Carnival and Royal Caribbean without kids. If there is an itinerary that you are interested with Carnival or Royal Caribbean then think about sticking to that as well. If you know what you like about the lines you have cruised then it's a good option. I know I want to try Regent or Oceania in the future, but without kids and that will require some savings prior to booking. Good luck finding a cruise and whatever it is I am sure you will have a great time!
SadieN Posted August 7, 2017 #15 Share Posted August 7, 2017 The cruise where we had the least amount of kids was a Princess California Coastal the first week in March. Greselda2251 Posted August 10, 2017 #22 Share Posted August 10, 2017 My vote would be for MSC cruise lines out of Ft. Lauderdale/Miami. We will be doing the eastern caribbean which includes St. Maarten, San Juan, and Bahamas. We are platinum on Carnival and cruise out of Galveston quite often.....just a little tired of the same ports. One of the wonderful things about MSC Cruises is that they match your current card level from whichever line you have been cruising on in the past.....ta da!! They are very popular in Europe, and are now doing more from Florida which is great! They lean more towards the European feel of cruising, and more towards the Italian feel. We got a great flight from Vegas to Miami in February, and an even better cabin selection. It will take a little time to become familiar with their cabin and deck selection, but it sure looks worth it! (Our balcony cabin with perks was far less expensive than our last Carnival balcony) We will be sailing on one of their newest ships, The MSC Seaside, which will debut from Europe to Miami on December 1, 2017. Our sailing will be February 17 - 24, 2018. Gosh, I sound like an MSC sales person, but I assure you I am not!! Just did a lot of homework on something a little different from Carnival, Celebrity, Princess, and RCL. Look them up online and see what you think!
