Cathryn4533 Posted August 15, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 15, 2017 Due to go on Sunday and just had an email cancelling my Royal Caribbean Pisa excursion - no reason why and the only excursion now on offer is double the price. Has anyone got any advice on how to get there on our own?

Sent from my Kestrel using Forums mobile app It is over 2 hours from La Spezia to Pisa which has the leaning tower and lots of stalls selling leather handbags but not much else. Italian taxis are expensive so i would give it a miss. Sent from my Kestrel using Forums mobile app

maria1122 Posted August 16, 2017 #7 Share Posted August 16, 2017 We hired a private driver. There are many right on the dock. He took us to Pisa then a wonderful tour including going down the almifi coast were we had lunch and walked around. It could be expensive but we had friends with us. Check on the excursion boards and maybe you can get a few more people to share.
George C Posted August 16, 2017 #8 Share Posted August 16, 2017 I would be really annoyed I RCCL changed our port without much notice, loved our tour by Papillion that left from Liverno, best shore excursion of the 9 we had on Brilliance last year, wonder what there reasoning was to change it?? Daisy P Posted August 16, 2017 #9 Share Posted August 16, 2017 It's pretty simple to take the train from La Spezia to Pisa to see the tower. We did that last year, and after Pisa we continued by train to Florence before returning to La Spezia. It was a packed day but we saw everything we wanted and didn't need an excursion! It's very easy to DIY in Europe.
Cathryn4533 Posted August 16, 2017 Author #10 Share Posted August 16, 2017 How far is the train station from the port ? Did you book tickets at the station ?
Daisy P Posted August 16, 2017 #11 Share Posted August 16, 2017 How far is the train station from the port ? Did you book tickets at the station ? It was about 20 min walk from the ship to the train station (we walk pretty fast). Yes, we bought the ticket for each leg at the train station before boarding the train. Rare vacationlover_mn Posted August 16, 2017 #12 Share Posted August 16, 2017 You could also check your roll call, to see if someone has a Pisa tour that you could join. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
