LaShelle2 Posted August 20, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 20, 2017 I have a friend who was recently diagnosed with cancer. She may not be able to go on the cruise. She and her roommate purchased CCL insurance. If she cancels will her roommate have to pay the difference? Do they both have to cancel? Her roommate still wants to go. Will they refund her $$$? We're cruising September 9, so we're past final payment.

S.S.Oceanlover Posted August 20, 2017 #4 Share Posted August 20, 2017 Don't cancel have her as a no show at the pier and you get back taxes and port charges. If she is going to do that what was the purpose of buying the insurance? Bill
tawaik Posted August 20, 2017 #5 Share Posted August 20, 2017 She needs to contact Carnival and inquire about canceling since she has insurance.
AdGuyMG Posted August 20, 2017 #6 Share Posted August 20, 2017 I have a friend who was recently diagnosed with cancer. She may not be able to go on the cruise. She and her roommate purchased CCL insurance. If she cancels will her roommate have to pay the difference? Her roommate will be charged the Solo supplement difference, but the CCL travel insurance from AON will reimburse the roommate 100% for those costs Do they both have to cancel? No. Only the person not traveling will need to be cancelled from the booking. Call Carnival and cancel... Do not take the incorrect advice given above of having passenger 2 be a No Show. They will then not be able to make an insurance claim. Her roommate still wants to go. Will they refund her $$$? The person cancelling will get a 100% refund of her cruise fare from the insurance company. Not from Carnival. The person still traveling will incur Solo Supplement charges, but these charges will be reimbursed by the insurance company. We're cruising September 9, so we're past final payment. You are past final payment so the sooner you do this the better. Even though everything is 100% re-imbursable thru the Travel Insurance, the amount of the penalties to the person not traveling are lessened.
