Pinnacle Suite Perks

We are doing our first Pinnacle Suite trip on the Westerdam this fall. Are there any perks or privleges that come with the Penthouse that are beyond the ones you get in a Neptune Suite? We would like to take advantage of staying in such a nice cabin, but I don't see any specifics on the web site.

We have stayed in the Westerdam Pinnacle Suites (both of them) quite a few times.

You do get a much better complimentary bottle of champagne than the Neptune Suites.

On embarkation -- around 2 PM -- sometimes special appetizers are delivered to the cabin.

Other than being able to have a course-by-course dinner in the cabin, nothing else.

We just like the extra room.

Just to add to the above posts, course by course dining is with the lovely china that is in your Suite. The table will be beautifully set just as if you were in the dining room and, if you have friends invite them to join you and have dinner together. (Just toak to the concierge).

The PS is set up perfectly with the pantry and separate entrance and it is true course by course dining that is unobtrusive with good service.

I've only had 2 PS's but it seemed to me that there more flowers and they were replenished, touched up much more often.

The only other "perk" is that you are escorted on the ship - like in the old days. Usually first to go on after those that need mobility assistance.

We have cruised in a Pinnacle Suite several time and have never been disappointed in the experience. Before our first PS cruise, we contacted HAL Headquarters and were given a full explanation of the PS perks, including several that were not on the HAL web site. After our first PS cruise (since the perks can vary by ship and can change from time-to-time), we asked our concierges about PS perks and have found them to be invaluable in helping us enjoy the PS experience.

Although likely to bring out the CC "flamers", my suggestion is: If you want the most up-to-date information, contact HAL Headquarters before your cruise and then contact your concierges after you are on board.

Smooth sailing :champagne-toast: :wine-glass: :cocktail:

Why bother to call HQ since the info they would give you could be wrong?

Right -- we have always been escorted onto the ships.

Now that I have to be wheel chaired onto ships -- I really get to go first.

Flowers on most of our cruises in the PS were changed or freshened up every few days. One time we arrived and the flowers were already dead -- DH took them up to the concierges as our cabin stewards wouldn't remove them -- Westerdam -- 2013.

Besides special china -- you also have special crystal.

The amenities for Pinnace are mostly the same as for Neptune suite, but really, thre is very little else a reasonable perrson could expect, want or need. Yes, you can have course by course dinner in Neptune Suite but it is far more pleasant, especially with guests I am uncomfortable with someone hoverin. in Pinnacle as there is a dining room table. and a place for the steward rather than trying to find a place to put himself. :D I cannot think of much else we would want than what we enjoy in Neptune suites , however, the extra half bath is nice.

Excellent point ... especially knowing how infallible the info posted on CC is!!!

Of course, if you had read my entire comment, you would've seen that (1) I did not say or imply that HAL HQ should be the sole source of information (see reference to concierges), and (2) I did not say that CC Posts should not be considered as an additional source of information.

Some have reported that you can do a course by course in a Neptune Suite. We've been on Westerdam and Oosterdam in the last year and both times the concierge said that a course by course was not possible.

Who said anything about CC posts? Calling HAL HQ would give you information that is at best redundant and at worst incorrect, and is therefore just a waste of time. The concierges on board should be your source. Edited by jtl513

We did PS on Rotterdam last year, 89 day Passage to Far East Asia voyage, and enjoyed every moment of it! Besides perks already posted on this thread, you can also order from specialty restaurants. We invited cruise friends over for speciality restaurant lunches and dinners during the voyage so that they can experience the PS as well, so we fully utilized the big dining table, fine china, crystal stemware etc. Also, if you have a specific perks that you would love to have but not offered, ask the concierge to schedule a meeting with the hotel director. Unless it's outrageous request, they usually accommodate your request.

Another excellent point  ... assuming OP could talk to the concierges before her/his cruise. Which is why I suggested contacting HAL HQ before the cruise and the concierges once on board. I did not and would never recommend HAL HQ or the concierges or CC as the sole (that means "only") source for cruise information. But, again, to each her/his own ...

That has also been our experience. And that is something that one of our PS concierges suggested when we asked about other "unadvertised" perks - she said, "If there is anything else that we can do to make your cruise better, just ask, and we will try to get it for you." It pays to ask - nicely, of course!!!

The Pinnacle Suite is a wonderful experience. Basically the perks are the same, but you do have all that extra room and the guest bath which really helps when you are entertaining. We were escorted on the ship, and our luggage arrived almost immediately. Of course don't always count on that to happen.

We have stayed in the PS many, many times and rarely do we get our luggage right away.

Most times it arrives about 15 minutes before lifeboat drill. Needless to say we end up tending to luggage after the drill.

Sorry if these are dumb questions, but next year on the Westerdam is our first Pinnacle Suite!

How does the course-by-course dining work in your room?

Is it like the main dining room, where they bring you the appetizer/entree/dessert separately, except they bring it to your room?   That almost sounds too fancy for us!   I'd prefer to go to the dining room for that,  or else just get room service dinner.

Also, can someone please explain how the Pinnacle in-room coffee makers are handled?   Wife and I drink a ton of coffee, and it will be lovely to not have to go to Lido for a cup each time.   I assume the coffee makers are pods like a Kuerig or Nespresso?    Will the Steward bring us extra pods each day upon request?

Is the tub on the balcony a standard bathtub with bubble jets?   Or more like a real jacuzzi you find on Lido?

And finally, we really don't need all the pampering that a concierge might provide, but are concierges different from regular room stewards that we're already used to?    I've never known on-board concierges before.   Thanks!!!

Course by course dining is very nice especially if there is a group of you..  Your table is set with table cloth, crystal, etc and yes, they serve similar to the dining room.  You don’t have to do course by course.  You can just order the regular room service if you want.

Your concierge will take care of it for you.

No need to go to the Lido for a cup of coffee in any case.  The Neptune Lounge has a great coffee maker for your use.

As to pods, yes, your steward will bring you more without an issue.

The concierges are a combination of Front Desk, reservations, shore excursions and Guest Relations.  Basically, they can take care of any issues you have, reserve dinners in specialty restaurants, order your in room evening dining,  take care of your hors d’hoeuvre orders, shore excursions, help with questions, exchange money - the list is pretty endless.

They are in the Neptune Lounge.

As far as I'm concerned the best "perk" of the Westerdam Pinnacle suites is the outdoor hot tub on the balcony... but that's just me! Um, don't put any bubble bath in it... not saying we did that... you know, just sayin'... 🙂

It's gonna be cold outside, so the hot tub will be especially nice.   I suppose your wore a bathing suit?...I'm just wondering how private it is  when you (didn't) use any bubble bath.
