Mariner condition

Anyone been on the Mariner in Asia recently? Please give an honest assessment of the ship. Royal just cancelled the third leg, the transatlantic from Barcelona to Miami. We are hearing the condition of the ship is very bad- filthy, reeks of smoke and nothing done to it since it went to Asia. We are booked on all 3 legs and now aren't sure whether to still do the first 2 weeks. My husband has asthma and if it is a smoke filled shipped that would be a proble. Appreciate any honest views of the ship.

We're scheduled to be on her in February, although that will be too late to give you an assessment before your final payment is due (sailing in May, right?) Would also be interested in hearing what recent cruisers have to say; we won't cancel (non-refundable deposit and non-refundable airfare, so we'll make the best of it regardless) but would be good to know what to expect.

While I wouldn't consider May 2015 recent...I can say that the crew seemed to have a hard time keeping the public restrooms clean...and the smoke that drifted up from the casino into the Promenade the entire cruise made it look hazy and of course smelled of smoke. We were on the Singapore-Shanghai itinerary and all I'll say is we as Americans as well as the Aussies & Brits were certainly the extreme minority on this ship and that may have made the difference.

Hoping the Mariner is brought back to the conditions we all are used to having on RCI ships.

Did we enjoy our cruise other than the above conditions....yes...we loved the itinerary and went full well knowing what to expect and were certainly not surprised at what we saw and experienced onboard.

And I have heard that these were hyperbolic exaggerations.
