DianetheCruiser Posted September 3, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 3, 2017 Does anyone know if Viking ocean cruises does a tour of the bridge? I know we got one on our Viking river cruise but I haven't seen anything about the bigger ships.
almelanson Posted September 3, 2017 #2 Share Posted September 3, 2017 Yes they provide a tour of the bridge during a time in port. The announcement in made in the daily bulletin for signup at the Explorers Desk. Well worth the visit. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
philw1776 Posted September 3, 2017 #3 Share Posted September 3, 2017 Asked to be notified at the Explorers Desk and looked for the announcement on our Homelands cruise. Nada.

deec Posted September 5, 2017 #6 Share Posted September 5, 2017 Ship's Bridge was a very informative. No paper charts....but still a handwritten ship's log! There is also a kitchen tour that was fun to do too....hard to hear sometimes so hopefully they took our suggestion and have started to use voice boxes for the tour! soundcruiser Posted September 22, 2017 #7 Share Posted September 22, 2017 We are just off the September 3 Viking Homelands and took a bridge tour - we just went to the shore excursions desk on embarkation day and signed up. I don't recall seeing any notices about signing up - I just knew what to do from this wonderful forum!
jetwet1 Posted September 28, 2017 #8 Share Posted September 28, 2017 Ship's Bridge was a very informative. No paper charts....but still a handwritten ship's log! That actually makes me sad, one thing that Princess does (actually, i've only come across it on the Regal Princess) is on the last day of the cruise during an art auction (yes I know there is no such thing on Viking...My bank account says thank you) is they auction off the navigation chart for the cruise from the bridge (you get it delivered to your cabin after the ship has docked) the proceeds from that auction goes into a shipboard fund that helps any crew members that have an emergency. The bidding gets pretty competitive for those charts, I have a couple, they make for unique reminders of the cruise.
