DPrincess81 Posted September 22, 2017 Author #26 Share Posted September 22, 2017 If you go to the gallery to tour, wear closed toe shoes. We didn't see that in any info, but just about everybody had to leave the line and go change shoes. We are doing this! Thank you for the tip! DPrincess81 Posted September 22, 2017 Author #27 Share Posted September 22, 2017 Johnny Rockets for breakfast as well as the Main Dining Room. The MDR actually has a smaller buffet but also table service, included, and nowhere near as busy as the Windjammer. Book all your shows NOW if you haven't done so. If you miss your reservation, it's fine, you can go standby for another. No charge or anything, but book when you think you are most likely to go. It'll enhance your experience immensely having reservations and not dealing with lines. Rising Tide bar in the Promenade is really cool, we love it for people watching and enjoying a drink. String music with wine in Central Park is nice. Every area has at least 1 complimentary dining option. Keep that in mind - so there is always something to eat and try out. Consider the solarium if you don't mind just a nice dipping pool. Have a drink and hang out, it's much less of a zoo than the main pools. Plus Solarium Bistro serves lunch and there is an excellent bar there, too. It's a great place to hangout if that's your thing. Besides that, you'll find the ship huge but not THAT big. The neighborhood concepts make navigating your way around easy as can be. Go down to entertainment place and check out the venues... live Jazz is fun! Promenade, up to Boardwalk, Central Park then the top pool/sports decks. You have essentially seen everything at this point. Very simple, take your time strolling and see what interests you, it's very accessible and easy to find things to do. Thank you! This was so helpful!!! Plus, you calmed my nerves about how big she is!

lbjen Posted September 22, 2017 #31 Share Posted September 22, 2017 Central Park in the evening is lovely, they have a violinist and a pianist and nice lounge seating. Very relaxing. Giovanni's is a must for at least one dinner. The Windjammer was much quieter for breakfast before 8:30am, there were long lines just to get in at 9:30. Sharpies to mark your freestyle cups, in case you get two identical ones! The aqua shows and the ice show were must sees for us. Pools were pretty much deserted on port days, especially in the morning. The beach pool was busiest on sea days, we found. We preferred the solarium, but could only go when the kids were in the kids club!

jll583 Posted September 22, 2017 #34 Share Posted September 22, 2017 Our favorite meal of the week was Giovanni's. We brought an over the door shoe organizer for our bathroom door which really helped with our bathroom clutter. The counters/shelves could only hold so much. We also purchased magnetic hooks to hang wet suits/clothes on. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Kilmarlic Posted September 22, 2017 #36 Share Posted September 22, 2017 My 2 must haves were bathroom spray and flavored coffee creamer....but I take those 2 things with me even to work conferences. Oasis is a wonderful vacation destination in and of itself. Stopping for a day in a port is just an added bonus. I missed a few shows that I had reserved on my first trip because I just felt like having a drink in the schooner bar and watching the people. I remembered reading somewhere before the first cruise that you just cannot do it all in a single week. Relax. Enjoy. Find the NextCruise desk and book your next adventure before you ever come back to port. It makes it so much easier to pack your bags knowing it's not goodbye forever. I was on her in March for my birthday and booked again for October 22. I've only got 30 more days to wait.
womack214 Posted September 22, 2017 #37 Share Posted September 22, 2017 We bring command hooks to hang wet clothing on. Also a glade plug in for your room. If you climb the falls in Jamaica you will need water shoes. Also take peroxide. You cannot find it anywhere and it is great for getting water out of your ear and also normal purposes. Blauelini Posted September 23, 2017 #38 Share Posted September 23, 2017 Only those that would be shown on TCM and TNT. Really? That's pretty crappy. Princess Cruises show first run (and they have a bunch) movies for free in every cabin. They had a bunch of movies that may have not even been on pay per view yet! Sounds like Princess is way better than RCLL.

And just to clarify, they don't have movies in a movie theater during the day/night? We have never sailed RCI, only Disney, and Disney does first run movies on a big screen. We don't get date nights to movies often due to working opposite shifts and having two littles, we're in the group of people who love to see a movie on a cruise! Not that it's a requirement of course. I'm so excited about everything you all have shared so far! We just purchased our magnetic hooks and towel clips via Amazon today. I don't think we need an over the door organizer only because I usually travel with little bags and one of those bags has an over-the-door hook and three pouches. Thoughts? Is the over-the-door organize a must-have?

dnewscruiser Posted September 23, 2017 #44 Share Posted September 23, 2017 We are about to go on Oasis for the fourth time on 10/15. We love this ship! One tip: we never eat in the Windjammer. There is simply no need on this ship--too many other great complimentary dining options, and then you further avoid potential for crowds and lines--just seems more relaxing. We eat in the MDR or Park Cafe for breakfast (Johnny Rockets is another option), Park Cafe or Solarium Bistro for lunch (Wipeout Cafe at times too), and MDR and a couple specialty restaurants for dinner to use any TA vouchers we have (from what I understand, Solarium Bistro is now complimentary for dinner as well). As far as what to do all day, well, what do you enjoy to do? The beauty of Oasis is she has something for everyone, and we sail on her FOR the ship, not the ports. I personally enjoy planting myself in the Solarium with a book, because I don't get many opportunities to pleasure read at home. My husband pretty much can be found on the Sports Deck, usually at the Flowrider. We both have discovered we love trivia in the Schooner Bar (different times throughout the day--check your Compass), and we enjoy the entertainment at night (we love the strings in Central Park and stopping in occasionally to watch karaoke besides the traditional shows). We also love meeting new people, and even though we do MTD, we always chat with guests at nearby tables (they are pretty close together) and we request to eat in the same section each night to get the same waitstaff (they usually can accommodate that, often at the same table). We have met some great friends that way. This vacation, it will be our first time taking our kids, so it will be totally different. So we are looking forward to experiencing things through their eyes and going with the flow. But one thing is certain: I have NEVER been bored on Oasis. Clarea Posted September 23, 2017 #45 Share Posted September 23, 2017 And just to clarify, they don't have movies in a movie theater during the day/night? ... Radiance class ships have a movie theater. Also, some ships show 3D movies in the main theater.
dnewscruiser Posted September 23, 2017 #46 Share Posted September 23, 2017 Should also add: we always enjoy going to the Captain's Q&A talk (usually held in the Comedy Club on Oasis) and a "behind the scenes" type tour--the theater one is free. We always learn something new about the ship or ship life when we go to these kinds of things. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

However, on our last cruise it turned into a sales pitch for stuff being sold around the ship. Never had that happen before and I hope it never does again. It really cheapened the talk. yuvraj Posted September 23, 2017 #49 Share Posted September 23, 2017 THANKS!!One more Important question!! I remember that you can't walk all the way from one end of the ship to the other and we kept having to turn around! What Deck is it that you can actually walk from the front to the back? I think we had the most trouble after eating in the MDR and then trying to get to a show at the other end of the ship  My favourite route for getting from one end of ship to other is Central Park. I believe that is Deck 8. If the weather is not good for an outside stroll then I choose the Promenade (Deck 5). Can get busy but takes you to straight to the theatre without having to go up or down decks at the other end. I also sometimes like to go via deck 4 which is through the Casino. Not great if it is busy or smoky but ok other times and it gets you straight to Entertainment deck which has entrances to the Comedy Club, Studio B and theatre.
