MLW070 Posted September 27, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 27, 2017 I was just curios if anyone ever saw cabins open up right before sailing? My son is wanting to be added to our cabin (which doesn't hold enough people) for our cruise on October 7th and they said that their isn't any other cabins available and to call every day until two days prior to the cruise to see if sometime opens up. I'm thinking it will not work out but curious if anyone has had luck with this?
carnivaladdix120 Posted September 27, 2017 #2 Share Posted September 27, 2017 We had luck back in July with a cabin opening up 5 days prior to sailing. A friend of ours wanted to join us so he paid the deposit to be placed on a waiting list and was told someone would call him if a cabin opened. No one ever called, but I checked the web site every day, sometimes multiple times a day and sure enough, the sailing popped up so I called and grabbed a cabin for him. So, it is possible, but you have to constantly check the site.
sunset785 Posted September 27, 2017 #3 Share Posted September 27, 2017 I would constantly check the site and call. I have heard that you have better chances this way than hoping to be called back from the waiting list.
springs741 Posted September 27, 2017 #4 Share Posted September 27, 2017 I agree with checking constantly. I don't want to be a Debbie downer but the sailing is so close it is in full penalty period. There is no incentive to cancel. (apologies to those named Debbie) I hope things work out for you all.
Micahs Grandad Posted September 28, 2017 #5 Share Posted September 28, 2017 Always a chance but doubtful so close to sailing date
Rare Cruisegirl6 Posted September 28, 2017 #6 Share Posted September 28, 2017 Keep calling, you have more of a chance now since many are cancelling cruises after these hurricanes, which ship are you going on and what sailing, eastern/western? Unfortunately, people get ill and can't make it for a few reasons last minute, it can happen keep checking online and keep calling.
timeinthesand Posted September 28, 2017 #7 Share Posted September 28, 2017 Keep calling, even the day you sail. Carnival can add to or arrange a cabin swap the day of. Doesnt mean they will but can, if possible....
timeinthesand Posted September 28, 2017 #8 Share Posted September 28, 2017 Im sorry, but yes they do open up even on the day of sailing. Thats what allows some of us to cruise on standby....
1lizette1 Posted September 28, 2017 #9 Share Posted September 28, 2017 Don't they also sell rooms to other sites (vacation planning sites)? Try different vacation sites online maybe they'll have rooms. I'd post some examples but I'm not sure if I am allowed to post links
Unclearnie Posted September 28, 2017 #10 Share Posted September 28, 2017 If you speak with Carnival, perhaps they can find somebody booked into a cabin that will allow the additon of your son. They have been known to transfer cabins if the people booked into a cabin are not filling it to capacity. Maybe you will get lucky.
