Rare flannbarr Posted December 8, 2005 #1 Share Posted December 8, 2005 Whcih cruise line do you think is the most kid friendly in regards to a 4 year old while still providing great service overall for adults? We were just on Carnival and the kid's program was good, but we did not love the service that we received. Looking at RCCL. Thoughts?
wrp96 Posted December 9, 2005 #2 Share Posted December 9, 2005 I personally love RCI for the way they treat me. I've always had great service on RCI. And I've heard rave reviews about their Kids Program, Adventure Ocean. If you are looking for ships with activities for every age group, the Voyager class ships are especially great. With a 4 year old, I would look especially at Voyager, Explorer, and Adventure as they have the Adventure Beach area for kids. For adults, there is the adults only solarium, the alternative dining restaurant, the casinos, the shows, plus there is individual babysitting available at night in addition to Adventure Ocean. In addition for family activities, you have the ice skating, the ice shows, minigolf, etc.
TrentS Posted December 9, 2005 #3 Share Posted December 9, 2005 Definitely Royal Caribbean's Voyager Class ships - Voyager, Explorer, Adventure, Navigator, Mariner... And coming in June, the even larger, more spectacular, Freedom of the Seas
Rare flannbarr Posted December 9, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted December 9, 2005 Thanks for your input. These ships don't sail the daters I want to go. What about the Grandeur of the Seas? I am sure its Kids program is good too.

I am sure its Kids program is good too. Grandeur is still a good ship. It just won't have the same ammenities as a Voyager class ship, or even a Radiance class ship. It will still have the Adventure Ocean program but it won't have Adventure Beach. It will still have an adults only solarium but it won't have a specialty restaurant. quinceygirl Posted December 29, 2005 #7 Share Posted December 29, 2005 We are leaving for Grandeur of the Seas in 30 days (but who's counting) and taking our daughters (5 & 12). I also wondered if the Ocean Adventure program would be fun for our little one and have heard nothing but rave reviews and she is very very anxious to go and meet new "boat friends". smrtypnts Posted December 29, 2005 #8 Share Posted December 29, 2005 We just got back from sailing on Legend of the Seas. This is a Vision class ship, which is the same family as the Grandeur. My son is 11 and my daughter 15. We were with extended family and my 7yo nephew was there, too. I can't speak highly enough of the AO program. Both my son and nephew couldn't wait to go every single night after dinner, in addition to their times there during the day. They weren't there 24/7. It's actually not even open all the time, like that. But they loved it!!! As for the ship, I don't think you need these new bigger, better, massive floating city's to have a great time. Our ship was gorgeous and had PLENTY to do all the time. My nephew and son both climbed the rock wall twice, which was plenty. They both played mini golf once, which was also enough. I don't think my son used the pool at all and my nephew used it once, I think........so I don't think the children's "beach" pool is a necessity. However, I will say to the OP, if you're concerned, maybe you want to consider Disney. We did Disney when my son was 7 and that was a great kids' cruise. Good Luck!! Boo's Mom Posted December 30, 2005 #10 Share Posted December 30, 2005 Celebrity has excellent children's programs. I have experienced Carnival, Princess & RCI. Celebrity wins in the children's department by far. IMHO. BTW, even my children noticed the difference when they were cruising. They missed Celebrity, when they were on another line. Rare Keith1010 Posted December 30, 2005 #11 Share Posted December 30, 2005 I would take a look at Celebrity. We recommended this to our friends several years ago who like you also had a young child and they were very pleased. We cruised Celebrity when our children were a bit older but we were always pleased with the children's programs and along with the excellent service for the adults. I would highly recommend this line. Keith
