Newby58 Posted March 4, 2018 #4 Share Posted March 4, 2018 I want to book the western med cruise on The Edge with a departure on 19th August 2019. I saw it on a popular online cruise agent page yet it doesn’t show up as being available on the Celebrity web site. Am I doing something wrong? Rare eroller Posted March 4, 2018 #7 Share Posted March 4, 2018 Two boring itineraries in the Caribbean over and over, followed by two vanilla itineraries in the Med over and over. I hope they will take the training wheels off after this first season! I've found with most major cruise lines, the newest ships get the so-called "milk runs", the tried and true itineraries that tend to attract first time cruisers. Then the older ships in the fleet are released to more exotic itineraries. Seems to be the case with EDGE as well. I'm sure with the goal of attracting more first timers to Celebrity. Denny01 Posted March 12, 2018 #24 Share Posted March 12, 2018 I’m about to make probably a Big mistake and disagree a bit, respectfully of course, with our Host. We booked the Edge Eastern Med cruise for mid-Aug for three reasons: 1. the Edge 2. It goes to Valletta Malta 3. It has 2 new (for us) Greek ports in the Peloponnesus. We took a private tour in Malta that went to the Hypogymn, a prehistoric cave complex that predates Stonehenge. Only 10 visitors per hr so its restricted to smaller groups. Unbelievable. And sailing into the Valletta harbor with all the white limestone castles and forts is a true sight. And looking forward to seeing what those other Greek ports hold. I do agree that the Med has many other ports of call that need to be explored and I do wish Celebrity would add more overnights. But that Eastern Med Cruise has some differences for us. Den I agree with you about Valletta. One beautiful morning last fall on the Reflection, I walked out onto our balcony just as we entered the Valletta harbor. My jaw dropped open when I saw the sights surrounding me. My husband was in the shower and I ran in and yelled "You need to come out here and see this!" He joined me on the balcony (threw on some clothes :D) - my SIL and BIL in the cabin next to ours came out as well and we all stood there in awe of this beautiful harbor. We also had a great day touring this amazing island. I would definitely go back and being on the Edge would make it even sweeter. :D
