Philly Steve Posted October 31, 2017 #27 Share Posted October 31, 2017 We've cruised Grandeur more than any other RCI ship and I can honestly say every cruise has met or exceeded our expectations. The crew and hotel staff make the difference.

suesnake2002 Posted October 31, 2017 #29 Share Posted October 31, 2017 Ok ok, i cant see you suffer any more. I'll switch places with you. I mean its the least i can do. You will have to arrange for private jet and helicopter to do the exchange. Oh can you cover me at work too. I get up at 3am, drive a forklift for post office, and sometimes moonlight as a roll off driver. And the dogs, you gotta watch the dogs. 3 german shepherds, so vacum at least once a day and dont forget poop patrol. Cause s... will build up. And the big one needs cream on his butt twice a day(that is true, no laughing) just drop me a note when i can expect the limo. Hang tough

ridgecrest Posted November 1, 2017 #33 Share Posted November 1, 2017 Doesn't sound like the ship or crew that we experienced and thoroughly enjoyed in August. I hope that the weather and your experience improve.
Coralc Posted November 1, 2017 #34 Share Posted November 1, 2017 Thanks for that. I play a lot of blackjack and couldn't figure out how that would apply and why I'd never seen it. I appreciate Cauzeneffect explaining that roulette reference as well.....I too, was trying to figure out what number you would keep track of in blackjack, other than 21. :D:D
Dennis#1 Posted November 1, 2017 #35 Share Posted November 1, 2017 :mad:A Horrible old rusted out has been of a ship . Should be put out to pasture ......... Are you sure you are on RCCL’s Grandeur of the Seas? I am currently on the Grandeur and I do not agree with most of your comments and observations. I am not going to waist my time countering your complaints, as most of them are ridiculous. We are having a great time on this cruise and so far have not encountered any problems. ICANDIGIT Posted November 2, 2017 #37 Share Posted November 2, 2017 I am due to cruise on the Grandeur over Thanksgiving. We have not cruised on a small ship like this but am looking forward to it. Most of the reviews and comments I have seen on the Grandeur have all been positive. I find it strange that we have not had any responses to all the posts from the OP. Can't make everyone happy. Thetrail Posted November 2, 2017 #38 Share Posted November 2, 2017 :mad:A Horrible old rusted out has been of a ship . Should be put out to pasture ... maybe do some three (3) hour tours! Ship is swaying , rocking and listing like the SS Minnow . If the captain had stabilizers he doesn't know how to use them . There was an announcement that because of " hurricaine Phillippe " ( didn't know captain was a meteorologist because the storm was classified as a tropical storm ) Captain said 70 mph winds and 20 feet waves so we might hit some rough seas . He recommended staying in rooms in bed as he would ( what????) Barf 🤢 bags were placed everywhere and all outside doors were locked down . The casino NEVER opened first day or night before the "rough seas" Apparently they had no intention to do so but neglected to mention this when booking . In addition when casino did open next day table games did not open as stated . Hours later after many complaints they opened . Playing blackjack requires you to manually keep track of winning numbers ... they even supply the form !! Who does that . Invest in new equipment . Has it been 22 years without an upgrade?? The food is unremarkable except that I find them lacking Even desserts are gross I found fuzz attached to one . My steak was served cold as in refrigerator temp at Great Gatsby dining room ( not so great at all ) There is little selection and food is extremely salty no accommodations. Had to ask for smoked salmon at windjammer after I was so fortunate to find a bagel . A chair was strategically placed in my room where the closet could neither open or close . So we moved it ... it was moved back . Told room attendant to move it where I had it so I can access my closet ... guess English is difficult to comprehend There are No refrigerator in rooms There is No access to monitor your on board account without going to one of two guest services agents and getting a print out ( this is dinosaur technology ) The wifi is sporadic and unreliable , no instructions as to how to set your phone as to NOT incur roaming fees !!! There are No water pitchers or ice in the cabins . This ship is old and creaks loudly , visible rust and age . Not refurbished or up to today's standards . The entertainment thus far is of " gong show " quality . The worse acts I wouldn't book at a nursing home ! Such excitement over a has been " star search " contestant from 20 years ago and a comedian (?) who was the only one laughing at his Schltick? We have cruised quite a bit on some large and some smaller ships and are very disappointed in this cruise I find it unbelievable that a cruise line would allow a ship in this condition to represent their brand. Hoping things improve ... the bar is set very low with little expectation this cruise will improve . I do not recommend this ship . Would suggest one of the newer larger ships and most definitely a different cruise line whose goal is guest satisfaction abc customer service Happy Now!!......

We are having a great time on this cruise and so far have not encountered any problems. I was going to say the same thing....we are on the Grandeur now too. She has to be on a different ship. Or maybe a paid critic from Carnival or other cruise line. I have never read a worse review of a ship. I’ll stick to reading the other live review. lenquixote66 Posted November 4, 2017 #45 Share Posted November 4, 2017 I've been on this ship 4 times in the last two years and must say your review is very biased and not aligning with many other reviews of the ship. Yes, it's an old ship... what do you think is going to happen in 20ft seas? We hit 25ft seas in Jan and of course most of this is protocol. Can they control the seas?... I think not. BTW most people wait until the end of the cruise to post a review so they can have a better formed opinion of the ship. We have been on 6 cruise lines and many ships .The Grandeur is our favorite and we sail on it at least once a year .Our Cabin Stewards are the absolute best .The Wait staff is excellent ,our CD's have been great. 2weimies Posted November 4, 2017 Author #50 Share Posted November 4, 2017 Dont ASSume that everyone knows the Grandeur ... Actually No I didn't know this ship does not have stabilizers ... not everyone on the ship lives in Baltimore or as some call it home of the baltimorons . Not sure it legal and certainly not " safe" to take a ship into a tropical storm / hurricaine force winds without stabilizers ( if you are correct ) Doesn't seem like that would be allowed but then again in 1996 if never retrofitted I guess not . Lifeguards at all the pools were not something that was in place until PEOPLE died . Lesson learned by cruise line . Other than that, did you enjoy the play Mrs. Lincoln????? You know that Maryland does not allow the casino to open on the first night, or you would if you researched this thread on CC. Grandeur is an older ship, and does not have stabilizers. Again, you would know this if you did some research. Rough weather is very possible, because we are still in hurricane season. If only someone did some basic research.... I seem to think there is a theme here.....
