alaska_planner Posted November 1, 2017 #3 Share Posted November 1, 2017 i laughed when i got to the part about spending $35,000 on a family vacation in disney world. but i guess where else would you be able to use the gift cards - a disney property of some kind i assume... how did he think they wouldn't be able to figure out what he'd done. at some point the accounts have to balance. it's not rocket science to figure out where the problem in the accounts is... now he'll get to vacation in the US prison system....not at all a mickey mouse kind of place.. . Shmoo here Posted November 2, 2017 #8 Share Posted November 2, 2017 I'd love the details on this $35,000 extravaganza trip to Disney World! I found this on another site: He returned some of the money to Disney, in a sense, when he spent $35,000 on a trip to Disney World, using gift cards loaded with the embezzled money, according to the complaint. It says he spent $8,700 on hotel rooms and more than $26,000 on food and drinks, merchandise and entertainment. https://www.courthousenews.com/embezzler-started-small-moved-fbi-agent-says/

Loonbeam Posted November 2, 2017 #10 Share Posted November 2, 2017 We took a party of 10 to WDW for a few days, stayed at Beach Club, used a Disney Guide for a couple of days and came pretty close to that amount. If we had booked concierge we would have blown that total out of the water. I'd love the details on this $35,000 extravaganza trip to Disney World! Loonbeam Posted November 2, 2017 #11 Share Posted November 2, 2017 Even knowing the way he did it, I am shocked it took that long to notice the credit imbalance. $26,000 on food/drink/merchandise and entertainment????????wow....that's impressive.. how long were they at WDW... and which hotel did they stay in.. i was trying to figure out how they paid with all those gift cards without anyone getting suspicious... but i guess maybe they could pay online using the code on the card? . moki'smommy Posted November 2, 2017 Author #12 Share Posted November 2, 2017 With park tickets at over $100 per day, the cost of upscale meals, and shopping....and no worries about money, I could probably spend that in 10 days. No, I'm not in that price range on my WDW vacations, but we've learned how to economize. This individual obviously didn't have that in mind! I would think that DCL was just giving him enough rope to hang himself.
cbelc Posted November 3, 2017 #14 Share Posted November 3, 2017 We have annual passes and stay off premises inexpensively in our favorite resort, cook much of our own food, and go once or twice a month for next to nothing.
