AKR2011 Posted November 3, 2017 #1 Posted November 3, 2017 Hello all, I follow these boards regularly, although I am not a huge poster. I should start by saying thank you to every single person who has posted an Escape review. I love living vicariously through you all. Because of all of these reviews, I can't wait to board next year. However, the entertainment is really overwhelming. Here is my concern: We are used to sailing on smaller ships where there is a show every night. My husband loves this. We are booked for 14 nights next year. How many shows will we realistically be able to see in two weeks? I know that they do not change daily, but how often do they change? And what other differing entertainment is there each night? My husband is afraid that he will be bored, and I booked this ship BECAUSE there is so much. How can I explain the way that entertainment works to him? I am super confused. I will absolutely be booking shows ahead next fall when I can, but how many shows do you think we can plan to see? This is all so new to us, and I really appreciate your help!
tiger belle Posted November 4, 2017 #2 Posted November 4, 2017 I returned recently from the October 21 Escape sailing. While, the entertainment/shows on-board are top quality, they are not so numerous that you couldn't experience them all on a single sailing. The two you can book ahead of time are For the Record: Brat Pack and After Midnight: Cotton Club Revue; I highly recommend both of these shows, and they are both in the main theatre. On our sailing, After Midnight had shows each night the first half of the cruise and then each night for the second half of the cruise, there were For the Record shows. Other shows you can book onboard--most of them on the TV in your room or, as we did, on one of the many kiosk interactive screens on the ship. One such show is held in the Supper Club venue: Mersey Boys. It is excellent (my favorite). A pre fixe (complimentary) meal is served during the show. There are also comedy shows in the Headliner venue that you can book each night (early show, prime time show and a late show). These book up very quickly so I suggest you book as early as you can onboard. We were only able to see one of the shows (it was very good). If you like escape rooms, there is one onboard called Escape from the Big Top; it is held a few nights onboard in the Supper Club venue. It is also popular, so I would book early. This particular activity must be booked I believe in person at the box office. It was a fun experience but very challenging to figure out the clues. My group enjoyed it though. Other musical shows and other entertainment don't require any reservations. There is karaoke every night in the 5 O'clock Somewhere Bar. Also, pretty much every night there is a dueling piano show called Howl at the Moon. It gets high reviews from those who attend it. We didn't see it this time around, although there were a couple of nights we could have. Piano bars in general aren't my kind of thing, and I wasn't too sure about dueling pianos. There was also a singer who had several performances in one of the venues who got rave reviews, but I didn't see her show. Nor did I see any of the shows performed by the magician/illusionist on board (it's just not something I like). As you can see, there are plenty of entertainment options on board. It might be difficult to see every single show available on a 7-day cruise, but surely on a 14-day one you could.
AKR2011 Posted November 4, 2017 Author #3 Posted November 4, 2017 I saw on some dailies that the same comedians perform multiple times. Do they do the same show, or does that change? And does the Dueling Pianos show change each night?

And does the Dueling Pianos show change each night? At Howl at the Moon, the dueling piano players will stay the same, but they will get different requests each night. (You'll probably see some of the same numbers, like Piano Man, each night though.) We've gone too all the dueling shows (16 hours in a week) when there have been good players, and most of each show is new.
CruzLover80 Posted November 6, 2017 #5 Posted November 6, 2017 We were on the Escape in September. My cousins saw the comedian 2x and had xompletely different shows. My husband and I saw the same comedian and when we talked about what we saw, it was different from the 2 they saw. So completely different shows. Sent from my LG-K212 using Forums mobile app

Do they do the same show, or does that change? from what I recall, there were two comedians on-board who basically alternated nights performing, and they would do at least two shows per night--one of the shows would be family-friendly with the late show being adults only...I also think there were some shows that were PG-13...we went to a family friendly show, and the comedian told us that if we came to the later shows we would hear some of the same material but obviously not all the same

I just don't want him complaining for 14 days. If he really ends up hating big ships, we'll go back to a smaller one next time :)
