Is Second City still on the Breakaway?

I love improv comedy, someone told me there’s a new comedy act on the ship. Anyone have any intel?

Correct - I was on the sailing that had their last show on the Breakaway, which ended 11/12. They confirmed that when we leave the boat, Second City leaves the boat forever.

That’s too bad, they put on a great show. We’re they replaced?

The cast didn't know what would replace them, all they said was that Second City would never be on NCL again, potentially another cruise line or more touring troupes.

They were replaced with Levity Comedy Group. It is basically two stand up comedians for the week that alternate shows..

They'll do shows at 7 (family friendly), 9 (PG-13), and 11 (adult only). A few weeks ago we had Alex Ortiz and Frank Townsend.

Glad they are gone. That was the most rehearsed "improvisation" I have ever watched. It was not good and I love that kind of stuff.

well in my opinion, I am glad they left. We have seen them on a couple of NCL ships are a few times in Vegas: always enjoyed them until the Breakaway last April. They were worse than terrible in our opinion. I am sure some enjoyed the show, but we just thought it was boring and very silly.

Agreed. They certainly overstayed their welcome. I lost count how may times I saw their "BLOW UP DOLL" bit.

The comedians, like the Howl at the Moon pianists, will be on short term engagements. As short as one cruise only - or sometimes a few. Don't count on anyone being there for long. Same with the magic shows, feature singers, etc.

 

Only Rock of Ages (6 month engagements), Burn the Floor, and Arvin and Emily (permanently glued to the Atrium floor) are there long term.
