Does anyone know if there is snorkeling at Royal Palms? It looks like a nice place, but DH is looking to snorkel in Grand Cayman...I'd rather spend the day at a resort. Who wins??? ;p

We like both also, thinking of going to Royal Palms but doing a one hour snorkel tour to Cheeseburger Reef with Salt Watersports Cayman which is located at Royal Palms, $29 pp.

Thanks Mistizoom! I'm going to look into this for him. It looks like something that would work for both of us!

We had our taxi driver take us to Hemingway's. Beautiful beach, restaurant, pool, shade, umbrellas, loungers and hot tub. The hotel is closed for renovation, but the facilities are open and wonderful. You can order drinks and food right on the beach, no need to clean up for the restaurant.

I'd like to hear more about this. If the hotel is closed I'd think the area wouldn't be too crowded. Sounds perfect. Does one need a reservation? Thanks

At Royal Palm, kids aren't allowed in the pool? Trying to find something to do with a 13 year old.

Correct. No one under 18 in the pool.

I'd head to Calico Jacks. Much better venue for a family with kids.

Calico Jacks is right next to Public Beach, which has free picnic shelters if you get there early enough to score one. Or, get an umbrella and loungers at either location if your group is small. However, you want a guaranteed cabana, especially for a larger group, spend the extra and reserve one at Royal Palms.

Royal Palms 110% Unfortunately, irresponsible tourists and locals somehow always manage to litter up the public sections of 7 Mile Beach, so we stay clear of those areas.

Plus, near the Royal Palms, you can see mansions like the one being built by a Middle East Oil Prince for his sister.

We had one ship in port and it was not too busy, but I understand any more than one ship and it will get crowded.

You do not have to pay in advance. You choose your seats and they will come around and collect payment.

BookBabe,

Do you have to book royal palms in advance or just walk in and pay when you arrive?

Thanks

If you want a cabana, you may want to reserve one ahead of time. If just chairs, you can get those the day-of since there’s more of them available

looking for update info....  last minute change to our itinerary. Haven't been to GC in a few years and none of us remember which beach we went to...

How much are chairs and umbrella at Calico Jack??  If we head there around noon will there be chairs available??   There are three ships in port with us..   We would rather walk around town first.
