Belle Posted December 28, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 28, 2017 Tell us if you got through the week Wanted a loss or stay the same was what we did seek So hard I know with all the sweets and food around every day Know we tried to be good sometimes we get in our own way Sometimes to us our ups and downs seem like a game On holidays that's what we do.. better to try to stay the same Challenge over in a week it was to help us be aware of what we ate Hope was to help us to stay the same instead of gaining eight So on January 4th we start again..it's quite near So let's be ready to start on track 2018 a New Year
mdaviswv Posted December 28, 2017 #2 Share Posted December 28, 2017 Good morning. I'm up 2 this week. Beginning to think I shouldn't have taken the week off. It rarely goes well when my routine is off at all. Hope you are all well and survived Christmas. Have a good week.
retiring soon Posted December 28, 2017 #3 Share Posted December 28, 2017 Hi all! Belle ~ nice start to the thread!:) Yes, a new year brings a new opportunity! Mike ~ you know you'll lose that in no time, you're great at it! I am surprised, but happy to announce I'm down 0.6 lbs! Wow, I ate a whole bag of Hershey's kisses with almonds over a 3 day period so wonder what it would have been had I not.;) Some of my calories counts on MFP were BAD! Anyhow hoping to do better in the new year. Best wishes to you all for a healthy, happy 2018.:champagne-toast: ~ Jo ~:)
winewanderer Posted December 28, 2017 #4 Share Posted December 28, 2017 Belle, Great poem. Mike, oh bummer gaining but like Jo says you will get it off in no time. Jo, wow, that is a great loss considering the time of year. Yippee. I'm up 1 lb. Blah. I have 3 weeks until cruise time so I must start working on losing now. Hope everyone did well. nyer Posted December 28, 2017 #5 Share Posted December 28, 2017 Mike, I feel your pain! I am up 2.5 lbs this week. I am not surprised though because I was very bad over the holiday. Jo, having a loss of any kind is awesome. Diana, you will do great before your cruise, I'm sure. Good luck. Belle, thanks for the poem. Hope you are doing well. shootr Posted December 28, 2017 #6 Share Posted December 28, 2017 Ooof, 207 this morning, so that's my starting point...again... If I could improve my memory, and bottle that feeling I get every morning when I ate well and exercised the day before - then use it in the evenings when the cravings and weakness hits - I'd be so happy. Missus is going to Vegas to be with her family - I'm not up for that town on New Years - so picked lot's of goodness today to stock up: Shrimp, chicken thighs, lettuce, veggie juice, green apples, etc. Anyone want the two carmel apples from the candy shop that I got for my stepson's birthday - THEN DIDN'T EAT 'EM!!!???!!! Even though my drumming skills have completely left me, it's a blast to put on the headphones and wail away for an hour. Getting the dog walking in, and even hit the elliptical this week in the morning. Just gotta look down at that gut and I'm shamed into toeing the line :D. Mike - what do you write, if I may ask? Like you've said, we're seemingly on similar paths so we'll just tough it out together, lol. Happy New Year to all, talk to you soon!
Belle Posted December 29, 2017 Author #7 Share Posted December 29, 2017 I'm glad we were all aware or it could of been worse. I to am up...2lbs. Was doing alright till went away for two days. Hope for us all it was easy on...hope easy off! Trouble is..it doesn't happen that way!:( Don't know why! Jo you did good a loss! Well next week is the end of 5 week holiday challenge to be the same or to have a loss. So we have to get through this week and get rid of our loss's so we can be the same or have a loss for the last 5 weeks! Happy New Year! See if we get more people for 2018. It's been only us six for awhile. Wonder what happen to the others who came in this year. Wasn't us because we're all so nice!:) Hope they didn't give up and are doing it on their own. Please any of you who came in before and stop coming in, come back. Doesn't matter if you had gains or loss's. We're all in the same "boat" :ship: WE welcome new people to join us to lose weight, to maintain. Keeps you aware how your doing. WE all have good weeks, bad weeks but we don't give up. We keep at it till we're at goal.. even after as we maintain. Come One Come All.....WELCOME
winewanderer Posted December 29, 2017 #8 Share Posted December 29, 2017 Good Morning, Shootr, I think you and I are losing the same 10 lbs............ Rose and Belle, bummer on the gain but we have to be aware that it is still not that much of a gain. What do they say people gain from Thanksgiving to NewYear's? Like 10 lbs. or so? Have a good day everyone. Will check in over the weekend to wish everyone a Happy New Year. Diana
mdaviswv Posted December 29, 2017 #9 Share Posted December 29, 2017 Good job Jo! Looks like you are the only one to come out unscathed. shootr...I’m sure you can do it. Wish I was as certain about my own journey. As far as writing, I’m lucky to get journaling done these days. Haven’t written a whole lot more other than my cruise review after the Oasis. I still read a lot, and want to write, but lack ideas at this point. I hope the drums come back to you quickly. My son and I bought guitars earlier in the week. It’ll be a miracle if I ever learn anything in that department though, being an ‘old dog’ and such. Well, only one more holiday hurdle and then hopefully we’re all back on track. Have a great weekend. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
westcoastgirl1 Posted December 29, 2017 #10 Share Posted December 29, 2017 Hello Shootr, Belle, Rose and Diana. I hope you all don't mind but I'm going to jump in here and join you. I gained 3 pounds since last week which is a really bummer. My son returned from University and my whole routine is off, plus I ate an awful lot of chocolate and baked goods. LOL The last couple of days I've been pretty good with my food choices and even ran a couple of times but the scale is not moving down which is discouraging. I'll come back next week and hope to have better news on the weight front. Happy New Years to you all! Monique
Belle Posted December 29, 2017 Author #11 Share Posted December 29, 2017 Welcome Monique, glad you have joined us. I know the holidays (really all days) are the worst with all the food, candy ect around! See you next week. Plus you can come in every day and talk if you like. I hope all of us have some or all the weight we gained this month off or at least didn't gain any more because still have New Years to get through. Like Diana said it could of been worse if hadn't been aware. Yes the say people can gain ten lbs or more during the holidays. On an other site I read some people did gain that much. So we were good! Everyone have a nice weekend and New Year Eve and Day!
shootr Posted December 30, 2017 #12 Share Posted December 30, 2017 Jeebus, everyone here is gone (missus in Vegas with her family - I was invited, I passed - trust me good reasons :D), kids are busy with others, coworkers out of town - and me and the dog just sit and stare at each other wondering when the next feeding time is... Taking down decorations, watching football, smoking way too many cigars - trying to keep my mind off the fridge and pantry full of (bad) leftovers. Grilled a bunch of chicken thighs, and am going to do more today - best thing right now to eat a lot of, without too much damage. The Guinness is calling, but so far been able to reach past it for the jug of V8... Going to see the parents later (they just moved into a really, really nice assisted living apartment complex, and not having the space of a big house, a yard, etc is a little tough to get used to for them) and drop off a new patio plant to kick off their balcony garden. Hope you all are doing well - stay busy and hang tough.
mdaviswv Posted December 30, 2017 #13 Share Posted December 30, 2017 Hey guys. Just stopped by to say hi. So the theme for this week is apparently we mostly fail without our routines. Welcome aboard Monique! Its good to have you. Booked a 12day Eastern Caribbean for next Christmas. Seems if I'm going to be off work this long, we ought to make it worthwhile! Currently booked for Tgiving still as well, so one of them will have to go unfortunately. A total of 19 days in 6 or 7 weeks would be pure bliss for me, but I don't think my wife and son would agree. The thought of being home for a one day holiday versus what amounts to a 2 week holiday is quite appealing to me. Mike
shootr Posted December 30, 2017 #14 Share Posted December 30, 2017 Aaaaaaaaaaah, squeaky clean (and a treat) after a couple mile walk. 76 degrees, can't waste weather like this. I get my treat later...

winewanderer Posted January 1, 2018 #17 Share Posted January 1, 2018 Hello, Welcome Monique. Bummer about the gain but hopefully you get back on track after the holidays. Mike, hmmm, tough decisions............1 cruise, 2 cruises? We had company yesterday but no crazy eating. Belle, we're cold too. Would like Shootr's 76 degrees! Although we are taking a Mexico cruise in 3 weeks so I will be warmer then, ah.......... Wish everyone Happy New Year. Diana

mdaviswv Posted January 1, 2018 #19 Share Posted January 1, 2018 Happy New Year guys! westcoastgirl1 Posted January 1, 2018 #20 Share Posted January 1, 2018 Happy New Year Shootr, Belle, Mike, Diana and anyone else I may have missed. It was a very long night for me of driving drunk young adults around (my son and his friends). I'm just sitting here waiting for the caffeine to kick in to I can get out and enjoy some of the sunshine we have here in Vancouver. Those who have spent time in Vancouver might recall we are known for our "liquid sunshine" aka RAIN so a rare winter day with mild temperatures and sunshine is a treat. I plan to start my New Year out right with a walk. I have to ride my bike to work today as my son is back from university and uses it to visit friends or family, plus.... biking fits into my 2018 goal of getting exercise and losing those last pesky pounds. I have some green juices all prepared and will drink those today to reset, then back to tracking and counting points. I have a trip (non-cruise) planned to Mexico for March and have to be able to fit into my shorts again by then !! Have a great start to 2018. winewanderer Posted January 3, 2018 #23 Share Posted January 3, 2018 Hello, Shootr, cool pics. Westcoastgirl, you are starting the New Year right with walks and bike rising. I've been eating healthy and going to the gym. I think in the end over the entire holiday time I stayed the same. I'm almost below a certain number. Need to lose more. See you guys tomorrow for weigh-in. Diana
