phissy Posted December 31, 2017 #5 Share Posted December 31, 2017 The way NCL has been increasing fees the last few years, may not be a mistake   (Just being sarcastic)
rtkenmore Posted December 31, 2017 #6 Share Posted December 31, 2017 I had the website do this to me one time when you could still add airfare amounts during the booking... it quoted airfare for two around $35k each. Called customer support and her system did the same thing. Sent from my iPad using Forums

ColinIllinois Posted December 31, 2017 #11 Share Posted December 31, 2017 I'm thinking they won't get too many people bidding on an upgrade at that price. Maybe it comes with a complimentary case of Coke.

Rare mking8288 Posted December 31, 2017 #15 Share Posted December 31, 2017 NCL's website are known to get these hiccup on weekends & especially around holidays, nothing to worry about ;p  :o Other mass lines, including Royal & Celebrity announced that they are raising their across-the-board DSC as of January 2018 ... something like 7% - prepaid them to grandfathered it, I believe. Side note - minimum wage in NY State going up from $11 to $13 an hour for many workers, and 12 weeks of paid family leave as defined, etc. Just a matter of time for NCL to raise theirs to match & stay in line, theirs - across the board DSC, probably around the corner ... and, set off more livid discussions here by some. newmexicoNita Posted January 1, 2018 #17 Share Posted January 1, 2018 The way NCL has been increasing fees the last few years, may not be a mistake  (Just being sarcastic) remember port charges and taxes are not something NCL can control. Yes, the fees have shot up over the years, much more so than the actually price of the cruise.

GlamorousGirl Posted January 1, 2018 #19 Share Posted January 1, 2018 We got “free” cruise vouchers from a land based casino. For our Dawn sailing in March, we were charged over $900 in taxes, fees, and service charges. Needless to say I agree with the title of this thread... Rare mking8288 Posted January 1, 2018 #21 Share Posted January 1, 2018 We got “free” cruise vouchers from a land based casino. For our Dawn sailing in March, we were charged over $900 in taxes, fees, and service charges ... What is the same sailing's regular pricing with identical stateroom, perks & "free" promotions costing or priced to be ?? Assuming that your offer is for an "Inside" with choice of 1 promo perk, your "extra" service charges varied widely, from zero (WiFi or ShorEx) to moderate (SDP) and high (UBP for 2) with the gratuities/service charges at 20%. DSC for 7 days x 2 people add up to almost $200 in total. Port fees & taxes, typically $350 to $400 for 2 people for 7 days. Our friends who booked CAS smartly using a CruiseNext certificate and getting another $100 OBC as stockholder, had paid as little as $300 out of pocket (net cash) on a different sailing for 7 days last year with the tax-free promo sales. To put these in perspective - you are probably still saving roughly as much as 50% of the regular NCL pricing ... excluding the hidden, prepaid "contributions" toward "earning" your rebated land-based casino voucher offer. Needless to say I agree with the title of this thread... of course, you still have to pay the port charges and taxes plus the DSC. I know $900 is a lot when you think you are getting something free, but I understand the other side of the coin as well.
