leaveitallbehind Posted January 1, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 1, 2018 You may want to post this on the HAL boards for best responses at the following link: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=171 Perhaps also consider joining the Roll Call for your itinerary to talk with other passengers sailing with you at this link: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2514845

Rare Hlitner Posted January 1, 2018 #6 Share Posted January 1, 2018 I agree that this thread would be best on the HAL forum. But, having cruised 200 days (exactly) on the Prinsendam I would venture some comments. The P'Dam is an older ship with very few extra amenities. She is a ship for mostly senior cruisers who love lots of long lazy sea days and know how to entertain themselves. This ship often has only about 600 passengers (she can cram in 800 but that does not happen very often) and its a ship upon which we have made many friends of other passengers and even some of the crew. That being said, if one is easily bored and does not like lots of sea days....this would not be the ship/cruise for you. Hank
lloyd2050 Posted January 2, 2018 Author #7 Share Posted January 2, 2018 Thanks Hank for your response,we have sailed quite a bit taking our sail boat from the great lakes to the Caribbean. Our longest cruise was from Fort Lauderdale to Australia on the Pacific Princess. We do enjoy each others company and always find things to do.Both in our late 70,s we thought this trip would cover most of our bucket list.Thank you so much for any hints that would make our trip more enjoyable. Happy New Year. Mary.

Happy New Year. Mary. I should have admitted, that having cruised on about 70 different ships (over forty years) the Prinsendam remains among our favoritIes (of all time). It is one of those "love it or hate it" ships...but it sounds like it would be a good fit for you. Among HAL ships, the old Prinsendam has either the highest or 2nd highest repeater percentage (depending on who you ask) in the entire fleet. It is very difficult to explain why so many of us love this old vessel..but DW and I would do an 80 day cruise on her in a heartbeat...if it fit our schedule.
