grapau27 Posted April 3, 2018 #3801 Share Posted April 3, 2018 I fail to understand why the extra Perks are so highly valued by many, and in reality are so few. When Pinnacle was introduced, it was clearly stated as being a recognition of Loyalty rather than a perk driven incentive. In fact the onboard benefits are very similar to that of D+. Sure the main benefit is the “free” cruise, but hey a lot of dollars have been paid over to get that. For me the one occasional perk is being invited onto ship events, but even now with so many Pinnacle members that is not a given. I do consider it a privilege and am very grateful....Symphony here we come. I have several friends that still chase points, i say to them simple Please cruise because you like the ship or. Its destination. Stay with Royal because you enjoy the experience, and consider if you had great value for money, do not stay loyal for points. Stay Loyal because the brand values your dollar on each cruise, because if they do then that is benefit enough and the perks will come. It took us 18 years to reach Pinnacle, and along the way we had some amazing experiences and made lots of new friends, for us that is the perk of regular cruising. We sail RC predominantly in the Mediterranean so the ships and itineraries suit us and the DL is the cream on top.
Rare L454S Posted April 3, 2018 #3802 Share Posted April 3, 2018 Have not been and won't be "Loyal" to only RCI. Sometimes their prices and itinerary do not fit my pricing and itinerary. Perks are great, but definitely not the main consideration.
Milwaukee Eight Posted April 3, 2018 #3803 Share Posted April 3, 2018 Where did you access that, I have a cruise next week and will look at mine and compare. It was an email from Royal regarding our cruise on Harmony next Saturday. We also got a letter from the Suite Concierge as well. Milwaukee Eight Posted April 3, 2018 #3804 Share Posted April 3, 2018 To be sure, the people who are aiming for Pinnacle may not purchase too many photo packages and perhaps they may not spend very much in the casino. However, they do spend money on specialty restaurants, shore excursions and alcohol. You sure about this? My experience on here, very few people participate regularly on these things. They wait for unlimited FREE drinks during cocktail hours. Take a Royal excursion, nah. Maybe once in a while Speciality dinner. Milwaukee Eight Posted April 3, 2018 #3806 Share Posted April 3, 2018 I read a report on the Internet thread on CC. I think I found a solution that seems to be working. Like Harmony, just move the DL down to the inside lower decks and as reported, overcrowding in the DL seems to be resolved. Hope there are others to talk to as meeting and socializing other like minded folks is the draw and the free drinks is bonus. For 2 weeeks on oasis i went down to the overflow on blazes like clockwork during happy hour. Stopped by the sl to get a cocktail for the ride down elevator, then hung out down there till dinner time. Met manyd great folks with a lot more in common than just cruising. Now 7 months before on allure i used the sl a lot more as we met some very nice people and had some great conversations. The dl and sl is great during cocktail hour but the conversations and meeting people is the main draw for me. I know in dl i have at least 2 things i common with others. We like to cruise with royal and we are human! Sent from my SM-T217S using Tapatalk

From what I have seen here, people who have been on the ships a lot tend to have most of their meals in the specialty restaurants - be it chops, coastal kitchen or whatever. Just my observation. I don't cruise a lot because I get perks, I get perks because I cruise a lot. MSC's idea of status matching is a very smart move on their part. You can continue to cruise and enjoy most of the perks you would get with your usual line. If the price is right, the itinerary is right, the ship is right (not too big, not too small), and the timing is right, I would sail on MSC in a heartbeat. Standard discalimers: Your mileage may vary, not available in all areas, batteries not included, some assembly required, some restrictions apply, keep away from small children and other animals. Maybe we should try doing a poll? I’ve found that most responses on here is that few people in the group that must have the DL and FREE drinks seldom dine in Speciality Restaurant unless some big discount like FNDR or BOGO. Few participate in anything extra that might cost money. They also seldom invest in the Casino, Royals Excursions, Drink Packages, paid ships tours, paid photo packages, and so on. Actually, I think it’s great to participate in these things as we do. So it’s only a few on here that don’t do these things other than to partake in the unlimited drinking in the DL? So the complainers and whiners about the Diamond Lounge crowding is just a minority? Good to know. My GF made me do it.... Rare John&LaLa Posted April 4, 2018 #3818 Share Posted April 4, 2018 Recap Sometimes they're full, sometimes they're not. Some folks complain, some do not. Some people drink in the lounge, some do not. Royal may or may not change the loyalty program. That is all, off to Singapore and possibly a 1,000+ eligible lounge lizards on the Mariner Not Quite Global Odyssey. Sent from my iPhone using Forums I hate polls here at CC they are usually dim witted and pointless. Kind of like this thread. Yes, old people tend to mind where the money is coming from, and have spent their entire lives building up for the moment of retirement, you, who appear to be in their shoes, seem to be an unhappy person who makes them realize that they didn’t have the good fortune of being you. Whether you made your money or you John Kerry’d your money, I don’t care, but for the love of all that is natural, I just don’t get your obsession. It is all good, but this thread and most of the posts are just a complete waste. JC PS John and Laura have an awesome time in Singapore, I really like the city, but it is just stinking hot, all day and night.
